Name's Melo. I'm 16, a junior in high school, male, straight as a board. I have been involved with Pokémon for over ten years, and I'm probably one of the few people my age who still play/watch/collect or otherwise participate in the franchise.
I owe a lot to this society. Three hours a day, I sit on a bus with nothing to do and little to stare at out the windows, and it gets extremely boring, extremely fast. When this happens, I remember that I have my Gameboy, pull it out, and play one of the many Pokémon games I have collected. As a matter of fact, if it wasn't for the trading card game, the anime/manga, or the video games, I never would have met the friends I have today, in particular, my absolutely beautiful girlfriend whom I adore very much.
I'm an aspiring writer and musician, and one of the main reasons I have so much respect for this business is also because of the extreme respect I have for Satoshi Tajiri, who, like me, has Asperger's syndrome. This mental disorder contributes to creative and academic strength, but to slowed reaction, stuttering and/or slurring of words, and an overall hellish time in gym class. Seeing Satoshi overcome this and become the multi-billionaire he is today inspires me to rise up and overcome my weakness out there in the music industry. I'm a gigantic thrash metal fan, though I do not limit myself and will listen to anything if it's good. Megadeth is my favorite band, followed by Carcass, Slayer, Testament, Death Angel, Destruction, Death, Symphony X, Coheed & Cambria, Metallica, Annihilator, G.W.A.R., and others. I'm currently trying to find bandmembers and start my own. I play lead guitar primarily.
I'm also one for odd ships and I dislike Misty's character. I believe Ash and May are closer than Misty is, mainly because May is less neurotic and easy to snap, something that Ash evidently likes about having Brock around all the time. I also strongly believe that Ash is bisexual, because he has the qualities of being both and, because psychologically speaking, without a father present on the show, the "lack of father figure" element of psychology would put Ash in a situation where it is not uncommon to love other boys and make up for that lost time.
As stated before, I'm an odd shipper. I adamantly believe in Abilityshipping because Anabel has the ability to commune with feelings of both humans and Pokémon, something that puts her a notch above all the rest who don't. I also adamantly believe that Giovanni is Ash's father, and perhaps the reason he is never mentioned is because Ash and/or his mother are ashamed of this fact.
I write a lot of fanfictions about Ritchie. He's a lot more level-headed, humble, and a practical thinker. He also seems to have better control over his emotions than Ash, as seen when he tackled him to the ground to prevent him from running right off the cliff in his debut episode. Ritchie seems to me like the epitome of character, and I try to explore the concepts of character, more real-to-life elements (these can get rather candid, explicit and/or nonsensical at times), practicality, and so on when I'm writing my fanfictions. I also have a tendency to make Pokémon, such as Sparky (Ritchie's scruffy-haired Pikachu), talk in these fanfictions.
Call me weird, call me what you will. But you also have to realize, fifteen years from now, you're gonna be looking back at this and saying, "Wow, there were some damn good times to be had from this thing." And if you're not positively reminiscing from it, you're nothing more than a hypocrite.
