Pokémon Green Red/Blue Yellow Gen I Back Gold Silver Crystal Gen II Back Gen I Thoughts Gen II Thoughts
Bulbasaur Green is a little off, but nothing too bad. Yellow is nice and everything else is passable. Crystal blinks too much, that's my only gripe.
Ivysaur It's not looking good for Green. Red/Blue is just breaking rules now and the backsprite is kinda odd. Gold is nice, Silver's about to sneeze, and Crystal's toned down on the blinking. Looking ok all round.
Venusaur Green is basically dead now, the backsprite looks like a salad, Yellow is good again, and Red/Blue seems a little small. Gold still holds up, Silver is now yawning, and Crystal has started flirting. Backsprite continues to be good though.
Charmander Green is the product of incest, Red/Blue is too scary to be Charmander, Yellow's kinda cute, and the backsprite is fine except for the spikes. All so fucking cute. No complaints whatsoever.
Charmeleon Charmeleon falls further down in Green, the flame on Red/Blue looks wrong, Yellow fixes that, and that backsprite was clearly the last thing to do on a Friday. The lot of them are very menacing, to the point of insanity in Crystal's case.
Charizard Poor old Green is destroyed beyond repair, Red/Blue tries and fails to be scary, and Yellow thinks that it's a Dragonite. Backsprite can't be salvaged either, I'd rate these but they'll probably eat me.
Squirtle Before Yellow, it looked more like a baby than a Squirtle. These are ok, but Crystal's too early to try and look scary.
Wartortle Green is silly and the rest look like superheroes, chubby ones in the case of Red/Blue. This continues into Generation II, with Crystal even shaking his shell in the process.
Blastoise Green's too thin, Red/Blue looks like something just stole a Blastoise's shell, and Yellow hasn't grown out of the superhero stuff. Backsprite's a bit boring. Gold is Silver before it fell over, and Crystal's still trying to look scary. Only the tail wagging spoils it. Backsprite's too bright.
Caterpie Green is an alien that came out of green goo, Red/Blue is meh, Yellow's definitely a Caterpie, and I'm half expecting that evil backsprite to bring out a gun. Normal all round.
Metapod Green, Red/Blue, and the backsprite look like they've been on crack. Fortunately Yellow saved the day. Can't complain.
Butterfree Green's wings are damaged, Red/Blue is just a child with wings, Yellow and the backsprite actually looked like bugs. Once again, no big problems. Is this going to be a recurring theme with bugs?
Weedle Green and Red/Blue lacked legs and Yellow seems suicidal Backsprite's nose is also deflated. Apparently not. The stare on all of them is unnerving, Silver's most likely drunk and depressed, while Crystal's practicing that "dangerous bee" look.
Kakuna Green is too thin and tall, Red/Blue is bascially Beedrill already, Yellow is too wide and short. These are about as good as an immobile cocoon gets.
Beedrill Green tries to be threatening and fails, Red/Blue is fine, Yellow tries to be threatening and succeeds. Silver could pass for a bank robber, Gold is silly, and all of Crystal's practice as a Weedle is for naught.
Pidgey It's actually too plain for me to say anything. Are most basic stages going to be this dull?
Pidgeotto Fat before Yellow, but the backsprite is nice. Crystal blinks a lot again. That's all I've got.
Pidgeot Green's ok, Red/Blue is horribly wrong, Yellow is scary, and the backsprite lacks eyes. Silver'd good, Gold and Crystal are kinda chubby, and the backsprite has a nice flowing crest now.
Rattata Dull, bland, boring, and tripe. What did I expect though? It's a rat. Put Silver behind Gold or Crystal and it looks like they're humping each other. Sorry, just bored of this one.
Raticate All terrifying. Still scary, but Silver's just tripped.
Spearow Only Yellow resembles a Spearow. The rest could easly be statues. Silver is throwing a tantrum, but it's fine overall for Generation II.
Fearow Red/Blue is bad but everything else is fine. Especially the backsprite, it's probably the best in Gen I. These are good enough.
Ekans Green is a Bellsprout, Red/Blue are bad too. Yellow really makes this one happen. Wrong colour before Crystal.
Arbok It's good before Yellow, when it becomes rightfully menacing. I'm not a fan of the backsprite pattern though. Gold's kinda tame for Arbok's standards, but it's Silver and Crystal that make the cobra scary again.
Pikachu Oh my, the mascot of Pokémon and Game Freak looked awful before Yellow. I'll bet that anyone messing up the design in that game were sacked. Pikachu's looked rather good ever since.
Raichu I really feel for Raichu, being shafted aside over his famous younger brother All of them look too big, but Yellow not so much. Still fat, still fine, still superior in my eyes.
Sandshrew Yellow is too well hidden and the others are more like Kangaskhan Junior Gold and Crystal are distracted by something, but Silver's good.
Sandslash Yellow takes the cake this time. The rest of them are a bit weird and that backsprite is plotting something. All rather nicely done. Backsprite is really nice here.
Nidoran♀ All wrong. Gold looks like an entirely different Pokémon.
Nidorina No wonder Nidorina can't breed, who'd want to be with this? Crystal seems to think that it's a Rhyhorn or a Donphan.
Nidoqueen I can't tell what the backsprite is, but Yellow is thankfully good to go. The monstroities have migrated to Generation II. Gold is strange, Silver tries to be sexy, and Crystal is dancing...
Nidoran♂ Absolutely awful before Yellow. Silver loses Yellow's scary look and goes back to being cute.
Nidorino Now this is more like it. Except for the backsprite. Same problem with Ekans, wrong colour before Crystal.
Nidoking That's what I call intimidating. They're all nice, Yellow especially. This holds true to the next generation. If not for Gengar, I'd be using this one a lot.
Clefairy Green is confused about something, Red/Blue is cheerful, and Yellow is crushing on something. The backsprite could use improving though. No complaints from me, they're just fine. I would have greatly preferred Clefairy as the mascot instead of Pikachu.
Clefable For once, Green turns out to be the best. Red/Blue is stupid and Yellow is still crushing on something. Still nothing to say.
Vulpix Green's tails and hair are too small, Red/Blue is apparently a deer, Yellow is good, and the backsprite sports a wicked mohawk. Gold is still a deer while Silver and Crystal are mooning those behind them. Backsprite loses the mohawk which is a shame.
Ninetales Green might just be a werewolf and Red/Blue decides to melt one of its legs off. Yellow and the backsprite are both nice and stylish though, even if Yellow is basically Rapidash. Silver looks kinda mean while Gold and Crystal nearly copy Red/Blue's leg melting.
Jigglypuff Really fucking ugly before Yellow, where it becomes the devil incarnate. The demon is fortunately exorcised before Generation II comes round.
Wigglytuff Really fucking ugly before Yellow, but there's no hellspawn this time. Gold is good, Silver is striking a pose, Crystal is shaking that booty. It's fine overall.
Zubat If I listed everything bad before Yellow, we'll be here all night. Silver is too dark, but it's a minor complaint.
Golbat Green is just wrong, Red/Blue stalks us in our sleep, Yellow is fainting from the ugliness of its brothers. What a mess. Silver is now striking poses. Did it learn from Wigglytuff?
Oddish For a living weed, it's not too bad. Likewise. Crystal's somewhat off though.
Gloom Green is squashed, Red/Blue just stretched it out a bit and made it jump, Yellow isn't racist. That's about it. All of Gen II has more drool than usual for a Gloom.
Vileplume Green is completely butchered, Red/Blue is mutated, and Yellow doesn't look too bad. They're good, especially Silver. It's Red/Blue done right.
Paras All bad in their own ways, expect for the backsprite. Gold and Crystal stare into your soul, but Silver's fine.
Parasect Green is too creepy, Red/Blue hates the sun too much, and Yellow likes the sun too much. The backsprite is basically Kingler with a mushroom on top. Gold is Yellow, Silver and Crystal are Red/Blue. Backsprite is still Kingler.
Venonat They somehow looked a little off, but Yellow's colouring was nice. Crystal's glowing eyes are creepy, but it works.
Venomoth No, no, no, no, no... Absolutely worthless and awful before Yellow. Thank goodness this lot are just fine.
Diglett The dirt was a bit off before Yellow, but Diglett itself was just fine. These ones aren't too bad when you ignore Gold and Crystal's floating dirt

To be continued.
