User:Evkl/Image Reversion Policy
This policy discusses how Bulbapedia addresses disputes over "better" images, when two or more images can be used to demonstrate a topic.
General approach
Images should clearly show the subject they are attempting to demonstrate. Where appropriate, images of action are preferred over images of inaction; for instance, an image of a Move should clearly show the move in process, not the aftereffects of its use. Images should be as large as possible, clear, and not make use of filters or other image editing software. Images may be cropped to focus on the primary subject, but should maintain the overall context. A picture of Brock from the anime can include the entire frame and does not need to crop out nearby scenery.
Guidelines for changing an image
All users, including administrators, should use discretion when changing an image; replacement images should be clearly superior in some way to the existing images. If a user wishes to change an image for any anime article or section, they must obtain the permission of an administrator before changing the image either on their talk page or the #Bulbapedia channel in the Bulbagarden Discord, or make a post on the article's talk page. User requests should include information about why their image is superior and/or reasons why the existing image is not an accurate or complete representation of the issue. An administrator will weigh the merits each image, such as resolution and representation of the episode, in order to decide which image should be used.
