PPN Forums information

PPN is one of the most popular pokemon sites out there. Pokémon Platinum Central is a website which was created on 29th June 2008 by webmaster Timothy Frind. The site was originally created as a place where Pokémon fans could discuss the upcoming title in the long-running franchise, Pokémon Platinum. The mascot of the site is Giratina in its Origin Forme. Since it's creation, there are about 1200 members (as of 14th December 2008) part of the community. The topics of discussion range from the Nintendo DS games, specifically the Pokémon Platinum Version, to the original Game Boy series of games. Members are also able to talk about anything they wish in the 'Social' area of the forum and other video games can be talked about in another section. As well as being mainly a forum-based community, it was created a main page for the website which features the current news. Whilst this feature has become slightly redundant due to the release of the Japanese version, walkthroughs regarding the game have also been published. There are many other features that are in progress for the main page, such as a Pokémon of the Week (POTW) feature. A Pokédex has also been recently implemented which shows the various moves which Pokémon are able to learn when they level up. Currently, the website has a single administrator, TimF, who has stated that he will contemplate hiring more moderators and administrators in order to cope with the booming community more efficiently. By hiring more webmasters, TimF hopes that the website will be able to branch out into other areas of the Pokémon franchise as opposed to just Platinum. Pokémon Platinum Central has already had its first contest, and more are expected to be held, as the webmaster has promised so. The community held their first contest, in which forum members were able to earn reputation points from their peers for making posts that were helpful and/or informative. The webmaster, TimF, supplied the prizes. The grand prize in this competition was a Japanese copy of Pokémon Platinum. When the competition ended, TimF decided to name both Darkness Unleashed and Richie625 as grand prize winners. Both of these winners were able to receive a free Nintendo DS game of their choice. The people who were in places 3-12 each received a rare Japanese event Shaymin.
