Could this template be updated so that it can be used for OTs? Changing the ♂ in the code to {{{1|♂}}} will suffice. The same goes for {{Female}} but with the change being to {{{1|♀}}} instead. SatoMew2 (talk) 23:51, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

The template's used a hell of a lot. I imagine not. Some alternative would be better—except OTs aren't generally much of an issue, I think, so it's arguable whether it'd even be worth that. Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:12, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
Well, I suggested it because we use it for the OTs of in-game trades but instead of coloring their names we add symbols next to them, and the columns in the tables are already a bit tight on space. This shouldn't affect the template where it is used already; if no string is specified, it'll still show the gender symbols like it does now. Alternatively, we could use {{Color}} in place of {{Male}} or {{Female}} for the OTs. SatoMew2 (talk) 00:25, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
If you change the template, it will ripple out through all of its uses. It doesn't matter if the outcome doesn't change; the wiki doesn't know that until it checks a given page. It'll occupy the wiki's resources no matter what change is made. Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:34, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
I'm perfectly aware of that. Is {{Color}} an acceptable solution then? SatoMew2 (talk) 00:57, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
It's an alternative, but I don't actually think those uses of these templates need to be changed. It's far less obvious what a red/blue name implies than the male/female symbol, and it really doesn't take much space, being one simple character... I think changing it would just confuse people more than it would actually be particularly useful. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:09, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
