Talk:Upgrade pack

Is this really articleworthy?
I'm gonna be honest, I really don't see the need for this topic to be a full-blown article (at least, not in its current state). Ignoring the fact that only one Pokémon title currently has an upgrade pack, much of the content on here has little to do with the Pokémon series in general (the "Non-Pokémon Upgrade packs" section is especially unnecessary), and even if you do trim the fat, you're left with a very barren page. If we do need to mention upgrade packs, this section on the Nintendo Switch 2 page pretty much already does that, so at the very least, this page should be turned into redirect in my opinion. - Yeah I think this page is jumping the gun a bit. It'd make more sense if there were multiple Pokémon games with Nintendo Switch 2 Editions, but there's only one and it's pretty unlikely there'll ever be more. The information here could easily be covered on the Switch 2 and Legends Z-A pages (or removed entirely in the case of the completely irrelevant stuff like the list of non-Pokémon games). - To me, the page is more to cover the medium of distribution tbh which does behave differently from traditional DLC. Else we would have to include it on that page but there are differences and it feels a bit unnatural to me to equate it to that. List of other games is on the bounds of what we would cover, but coverage of different distribution methods of supported consoles is well within our coverage reach. 4iamking 18:40, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- I suggested to cover it on the Switch 2 and Legends Z-A pages, not the DLC page. The difference with DLC is that there's more than one Pokémon game with it. Hewer (talk) 19:49, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- Functionally an upgrade pack just a unique type of DLC though. The main thing that separates it from other switch 2 games is that the physical game cards can be used on switch 1. Also I dont think the amount of games is really inherently an obstacle since the articles main purpose isn't to list the games, it's to describe the medium of distribution. 4iamking 20:05, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- I still don't think it's worthy of a standalone article at this time. It could easily be covered on the Switch 2 and/or Z-A articles as mentioned, with this title as a redirect if desired.
- The list of non-Pokémon titles in particular really comes across as just strictly padding to try and add enough content to justify a standalone page. Driftin Soul (talk) 20:15, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- I think regardless of what happens here, that is clearly padding that the consensus is for removing, so I have done that. 4iamking 20:27, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
- The reason I keep bringing up that there's only one Pokémon game with a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition isn't because I think it makes this page too short, but because I think if there's only one then it makes more sense to just explain the medium of distribution on the page for the game rather than making a separate article. If there were two Pokémon games with Switch 2 Editions then this page could save us some repetition, but since there's only one it's a bit pointless. Hewer (talk) 20:31, 11 February 2026 (UTC)
