Explosive moves and Starmobiles?

I was watching a metronome challenge run vid of Violet and they had a called Misty Explosion fail to work against the Segin Starmobile ("But it failed!" message, user didn't faint). Does this happen with all Starmobiles and explosive moves? And are there any other move categories that are just totally blocked by them besides this and the already-noted status condition immunity?
