SQUIRREL

"Squirtle appears to be a cross between a squirrel and a turtle."??????????????????????????????????? Huh?????? Who put this in? That's one weird squirrel, if you ask me... --electAbuzzzz (TALK) 08:51, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

They probably put that because of its tail. --ケンジガール 09:04, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Still, I wouldn't define Squirtle's origin as "a cross between a squirrel and a turtle"... It's ridiculous. He's 100% turtle... And the name comes from "squirt", obviously, not from squirrel... --electAbuzzzz (TALK) 10:30, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm on your side here - the squirrel allegation is pure conjecture, and, in my opinion, completely bizarre. Punkrockrevel 20:14, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Since when do turtles have that tail? /Doedfisk

Since when do squirrels? [[Derian]] 12:19, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Trivia question

What does this mean:

  1. Statistically, Squirtle is the slowest Pokémon out of Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon, but in the game it is the fastest attacker. It's running speed is on the lower end of the range, and, seeing that Charizard (the fastest according to statistics) is a fast runner (but not walker or attacker), it may be a hint at the stats of the Pokémon.

I don't get it. Why does it belong in trivia? -- evkl (need to talk?) 06:01, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

It means that in Super Smash Bros Brawl, Squirtle is Slower than Charizard, refering to it's in-game stats. I, however find this to not be ture, I have alot of experience with Squirtle in SSBB and find Charizard to be slower. (Whilst running) Lucario12 07:32, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Squirtle is the fastest, I think. Ivysaur could be faster, or all three are about even.Nintendofan146B 21:20, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Bubblebeam

My Squirtle(or had it already evolved..?) learned bubblebeam naturally,in Red? Lovely Rose 18:30, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Are you sure that it's not Bubble??? --Theryguy512 01:23, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Nope,I thought it both Bubble and Bubblebeam. Lovely Rose 03:36, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Sure it's not the TM? tc²₆tc26 03:45, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't recall having the tm for the move at that time. Lovely Rose 02:19, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Blizzard by Breeding?

When I bred my male Blastoise with a ditto, the squirtle that hatched knew Blizzard, which my Blastoise also happened to know. Why isn't this on the list of moves by breeding? Solar Dragon 16:06, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

It's a TM move. TM moves learnt by both the male parent and the offspring Pokémon (in this case, Squirtle) are always passed down when breeding. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 16:09, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh right. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Solar Dragon 10:34, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Koopa!

Interesting trivia: the regular color of it's shell is red, and the shiny color is green. The two colors of koopa shells in mario! eh?? [[Derian]] 19:03, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Might be worth adding in. Was the koopa made before or after Squirtle though? Solar Dragon 19:08, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Koopas have been around since the 1980s, but idk if this is worthwhile trivia or not. ZestyCactus 19:09, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Well squirtle wasn't really 'red and green' till Gen 3, so definitely Koopas (kind of a brown color in Gen 2). I'll add it, and people can remove it if they disagree. [[Derian]] 19:32, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Please don't even try adding that back in. We've taken it out once or twice in the past year, along with other Mario related things... R.A. Hunter Blade 20:46, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Emerald Sprite

The Emerald sprite looks stretched (as if one of the dimensions is mistyped). Tk3141 22:16, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Clear your cache (Ctrl+F5 in Firefox and Chrome, Ctrl+shift+F5 in IE, check your browser for the rest). It's occuring because the previous image was cropped too close. A new version has been uploaded that isn't over-cropped, and this can cause your computer to display the image from your cache (the old one) with the dimensions of the new image, in this case, stretching it. Turtle

Whoever wrote Squirtle being based on a sea turtle and a tortoise is totally wrong! It is clearly a freshwater turtle.Bennell 21:07, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Then kindly bring evidence, pictures or something, or official sources.----DJWolfy 21:09, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

There's no need to prove anything. It's common sense that Squirtle is a freshwater turtle.Bennell 15:36, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
