Isn't Shiinotic named after Shiinotomoshibitake (Mycena lux-coeli), which is a bioluminescent mushroom?Jlaine3333 (talk) 15:44, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Possible inspiration

Could Shiinotic be based on Toad from the Super Mario franchise? It is an anthropomorphic mushroom with a constantly smiling face and a bottom part resembling Toad's pants.

Or maybe... Considering how its light can confuse people, its spores cause drowsiness and it's a Fairy type, could it also be based on magic mushrooms? DrBrainIsAwesome (talk) 16:34, 29 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

They are both Nintendo properties, and they are both mushrooms, but that is where the similarities end. I really don't see any similarities to Toad. That said, we're not allowed to speculate that a certain Pokémon's design may be based on a copyrighted character (even if it's another Nintendo property), unless explicitly stated by the creators.
