Fought Mustard for champion??

The only vaguely relevant citation I can find for this is Mustard's rare league card which states,

"This photo was taken about 50 years ago, when Mustard defeated the Fairy-type Gym Leader and went on to become Champion."

But that sounds to me like he just fought her and that's when the photo was taken -- probably while collecting badges, possibly in the final tournament -- and only later did he become Champion, presumably in a match against some other reigning champion.

If someone can cite this claim, then by all means put it back, but for now I'm going to remove it. PsyMar (talk) 00:49, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
