Spiky-Eared Pichu

So, i was considering adding a trivia point about how this may be a reference to Spiky-Eared Pichu given that as far as i'm aware, the tip of the left ear is never shown (it wasn't in the reveal trailer for the set, and it's just barely cut off in the card). I'd just like to double check that we never see this ear? And if we don't, that it would be worth adding in the first place (given that, if it isn't, it's an awfully large coincidence that the Pichu owned by Ethan that can't evolve lines up with the Pichu that can't leave HGSS that can't evolve. While modern day baby Pokémon don't evolve, they easily could've made this an exception since it would've been Ethan's Pichu into Ethan's Pikachu which doesn't have the problem of prior Pikachu cards being unable to evolve from it).
