It crossed my mind that this Pokemon's high resemblance to the northern pike and reference to harpoons/spear fishing may have been an intentional pun on the long spear called a pike, which actually is the origin of the name of the fish. Headsprouter (talk) 14:25, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
