Sweets Relay is a Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket deck archetype introduced in Eevee Grove in 2025. The deck focuses on the titular attack printed on various Pokémon in the set, which gains power if it was also used by a Pokémon on the previous turn.

Strategy

The Sweets Relay attack is shared by a number of Pokémon in Eevee Grove and deals additional damage if Sweets Relay was used in the player's previous turn. Notably, Swirlix, Slurpuff, and Milcery only require Colorless Energy for the attack, allowing the deck to use Energy of any type, though generally Water is preferred to enable Irida alongside Vanillite, Vanillish and/or Vanilluxe. While Appletun also has Sweets Relay, it is seldom seen due to Applin not having the attack, potentially breaking the Sweets Relay chain if it cannot evolve immediately.

The game plan for the deck is simple - use Sweets Relay as much as possible to build up your other Sweets Relay, while saving Alcremie to finish off opponents with a high-damage Sweets Overload.

Weaknesses

Basic Sweets Relay users deal low damage with the attack, and all Sweets Relay users suffer from low HP; Slurpuff is the only Sweets Relay user that breaks the 100 HP benchmark. As such, the deck struggles to build momentum and trade effectively against efficient early attackers like Tapu Koko ex, Silvally, Darkrai ex, and Solgaleo ex. Alcremie is similarly fragile at 80 HP, making it vulnerable if forced into the Active Spot and prone to being taken out after scoring a KO.

The deck's reliance on attacking early, often with weak Basic Pokémon, also makes Rocky Helmet and Poison Barb very punishing.

Key cards

Eevee Grove

  • Alcremie - The deck's main win condition. Alcremie's Sweets Overload attack deals damage based on the number of times Sweets Relay was used in the game, dealing a hefty 160 damage after four Sweets Relay uses.
  • Slurpuff - The strongest Sweets Relay user, Slurpuff can deal 90 damage for only ColorlessColorless if Sweets Relay was used in the previous turn. Ideally, this is done by attacking with Swirlix on turn 2 or 3, then evolving on the next turn.
  • Milcery and Swirlix - While primarily used to evolve into Alcremie and Slurpuff respectively, the fact they have Sweets Relay means attacking with the Basic forms (preferably Swirlix) is important for building momentum.

Other packs

  • Irida - The most effective healing Supporter the deck has access to, Irida helps offset the deck's frailty.

Typical decklist

Note the number of Supporter and Item cards is highly variable, depending on play style.

Possible tech cards

  • Vanillish - Vanillish, Vanillite and Vanilluxe can be played for more Sweets Relay users, since the deck usually runs Water Energy already. Vanillite also reduces the disadvantage of going first by being a single-Energy attacker with better damage and HP than the Basic Pokémon. The Vanillite line can also be played without Vanilluxe or without Vanillish (using Rare Candy).
  • Cherubi - Cherubi can attack going first, but requires a Pokémon Tool like Giant Cape or Leaf Cape to attack when played in a Water Energy-only deck. It can also be used in a fast beatdown Grass variant of this deck to prepare Appletun on the bench, which only requires 1 Grass Energy to deal 70 damage.
  • Mythical Slab - As the main Sweets Relay users are Psychic-type, Mythical Slab enhances the deck's draw power.
  • Team Rocket Grunt - Can remove Energy from threatening opposing Pokémon, preventing them from getting multiple knockouts in a row.
  • Guzma - Can remove HP-boosting Pokémon Tools like Giant Cape or Leaf Cape to help score knockouts, or prevent Rocky Helmet and Poison Barb from inflicting chip damage.
  • Lisia - Helps to quickly find Milcery, Cherubi and Applin. More useful in the offensive Grass deck variant.
