Release information
Prototype Pokémon Leagues were given the Trainer Deck B, which included this card, before the Base Set's official release. This print has a red border and "Trainer Deck B" printed on the back. This card was included in the Base Set, first released in the Japanese Expansion Pack. It was reprinted in the Base Set 2 and Legendary Collection expansions.
Due to an oversight in Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Trading Card Game 2: The Invasion of Team GR!, this card can be used to move a Pokémon card from the hand to the deck and then the same Pokémon card back to the hand. This contradicts the card text, which mentions trading a card for another and showing both to the opponent.
Rulings
In Japan only, all prints of this card received errata to be played as a Supporter card upon the introduction of the mechanic.[1]
Trivia
This card's pre-Japanese errata effect is nearly identical to Pokémon Communication, an Item card first released in the HeartGold & SoulSilver expansion. Pokémon Communication does not state to show both cards at the same time, effectively giving it Pokémon Trader's video game effect.
