The Pokémon Deluxe Micro Playsets were released by Jakks Pacific in 2009 and 2010, during Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl of the Pokémon anime.

Each set is shaped like a Poké Ball and opens up into three sections. All of the sets were sold with three miniature characters and the base serves as a safe storage compartment for these small figures. Nods to the anime included images of main characters and wild Pokémon present in each of the sets. Additionally, the sets all contained a variety of interactive features such as caverns and movable components to give the illusion that a figure is flying.

Each set had a thematic color to differentiate it from the other sets.

Series One

The Waterfall Micro Set included figures of Piplup, Meowth, and Starly. The exterior was blue.

The Battle Arena Micro Set was red in color. The set is based on a match between Brock and Ash, with figures of Pikachu, Croagunk, and Gligar.

The Forest Micro Set features Mothim, Turtwig, and Buneary. It may be loosely based on Sinnoh's Eterna Forest.

Series Two

The Gym Micro Set is gold in color and features all Fighting-type Pokémon, including Heracross, Meditite, and Machop. This set is likely an homage to Veilstone Gym, a Gym in Sinnoh specializing in Fighting-type Pokémon.

The Underground Cave Micro Set has a silver exterior and includes the Rock-type Pokémon Geodude, Omanyte, and Kabuto. The inclusion of the two Fossil Pokémon indicates the set is based on the Oreburgh Mine and the broader mining feature included in the Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum games.

The Pokémon Center Micro Set is yellow on the outside, and it features Chimchar, Happiny, and Pachirisu. This is the only set to feature a Pokémon from each of the traveling trio's anime-based teams, Ash's Chimchar, Brock's Happiny, and Dawn's Pachirisu, respectively.

The Ghost Micro Set has a dark-blue exterior and features Misdreavus, Gengar, and Hoothoot.

The Snow Adventure Micro set has an ice blue exterior. It includes three figures, Weavile, Swinub, and Snover.
