Release information

This card was included as both a Regular card and a Secret Rainbow Rare in the Vivid Voltage expansion, first released in the Japanese Amazing Volt Tackle expansion. Both prints feature artwork by aky CG Works. It was reprinted as one of the SWSH Black Star Promos with different artwork by PLANETA Mochizuki and was available in the Celebrations Premium Figure Collection—Pikachu VMAX from October 22, 2021. In Japan, this print was released as one of the S-P Promotional cards and was available as part of the PikaPika! Pikachu! Campaign, which began on September 18, 2020. For every six Amazing Volt Tackle booster packs purchased in one transaction at participating stores, customers would receive a special pack containing one of five possible cards. For every Amazing Volt Tackle booster box purchased, customers would receive five special packs. The promotion ran for as long as stocks lasted. The Japanese version of this print has the campaign logo on the right edge of the artwork. In Japan, the Vivid Voltage Regular print was reprinted in the 25th Anniversary Golden Box, released on October 22, 2021. This print has a blue and gold "25th" graphic on the right edge of the artwork.

This card was later included as both a Regular print and Character Secret Rare print in the Japanese VMAX Climax expansion released December 5, 2021. The Regular print utilized the original artwork for the card while the Character Secret Rare print featured a new artwork that included Red illustrated by Souichirou Gunjima.

Origin

This card features Gigantamax Pikachu. Red owns a Pikachu in all games he has appeared as an opponent. Volt Tackle is a move in the Pokémon games that Pikachu can learn, and is also a move Red's Pikachu can use in his post-Generation II teams.
