The current appearance of the interface message is misleading (the interface page name is Protectedpagetext). It should simply look like this:
This page is currently protected so that only some users can $2 it.
where "$2" is the action and the PROTECTIONLEVEL magic word is used. For more details, see the specific page on translatewiki.net. Wrrasba (talk) 23:38, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
