Rulings

  • The Evolutions FAQ clarifies that Imakuni?'s Doduo's Frenzied Escape Pokémon Power essentially makes it out of play for the remainder of the game once it is thrown, instead of going to the Bench as it would if it retreated normally.[1]
  • Harmonize has six different clarifications surrounding its mechanics, none of which involve specific other cards.[2]
    • The damage placement from the Harmonize attack only happens once the player has finished singing, even if the singing takes multiple turns.
    • If the player stops singing for whatever reason (eg. forgetting the song's lyrics), then damage is dealt immediately to the current Defending Pokémon.
    • Musical accompaniment is allowed, but humming or lip-syncing do not count as "singing".
    • Even if Imakuni?'s Doduo is Knocked Out or "retreats" with Frenzied Escape, the Harmonize attack still continues and the player may continue singing.
    • Damage is dealt to the opponent's current Active Pokémon, even if it isn't the Defending Pokémon when the Harmonize attack is initiated.
    • If the player uses Harmonize and then uses it again on their next turn, they have to start singing again, and the damage from the prior Harmonize attack is placed immediately (thus the damage does not stack). The player may sing the same song that they previously sang if they wish.

Trivia

Origin

This card is based on Imakuni?'s Doduo from the Challenge from the Darkness expansion. The only mechanical difference is the amount of the Resistance modifier, with the original card having -30 instead of -20.
