Release information
This card was included in the Vivid Voltage expansion with artwork by Shigenori Negishi, first released in the Japanese Amazing Volt Tackle expansion. It was reprinted, alongside a Full Art Secret card with artwork by Megumi Higuchi featuring Morty, in the Japanese VMAX Climax subset. The Full Art Secret print was later included in the Brilliant Stars expansion.

Origin
Spooky Shot is an attack that first appeared on Misdreavus and Mismagius from Legendary Treasures. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Sword. Morty, the Gym Leader of Ecruteak City, is featured in the Brilliant Stars print's illustration, who uses a Dusknoir in the Pokémon World Tournament in Black 2 and White 2, and when challenged to a rematch in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
