Asako Ito

Asako Ito (Japanese: いとうあさこ Itō Asako, born in Miyagi Prefecture[1]) is an illustrator for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Her first card was Poliwag from the Sun & Moon expansion.
She is unique among TCG artists as, rather than drawing or making a 3D render, she crochets amigurumi stuffed dolls of the subject. She also crafts the backgrounds for her card artworks using various materials such as felt. She taught herself knitting at university, although she had majored in oil painting. According to her, she was inspired to learn to knit after seeing the teddy bear from the Mr. Bean series and wanting to knit a replica for herself.[1]
