Hi! I am Aggron989 and I joined Bulbapedia in December of 2012. Pokémon is one of my hopeless obsessions.


I don't remember exactly when I really got into Pokémon, but I've seen a lot of the anime episodes and own a lot of the games. When I first started playing the games, I didn't know how to do anything and I borrowed somebody else's {{p|Swampert}} to power my way through my first game, Pokémon Ruby. After I learned how to properly play Pokémon, I restarted my save file a few times and now I have what I consider to be a very good team. After playing Ruby, my Pokémon obsession has been growing steadily larger and I now own Ruby, Emerald, Silver, two LeafGreens (because I'd lost my first one for a while), Pearl, Platinum, SoulSilver, White, and White 2. I also own three Mystery Dungeon games, all three Ranger games, Pokémon Pinball Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon Snap, and Pokémon Stadium (which I never play anymore).
Or at least, I used to. I might have restarted that game.


As my username suggests, my favorite Pokémon ever is {{p|Aggron}}. I have no idea why, so please don't ask.

I don't really have a favorite type, since it keeps changing. For a while, it was {{t|Psychic}}, but I don't have any one true favorite type. However, my least favorite type is {{t|Flying}}. I love the way Flying-type Pokémon are portrayed in the anime and everything, and if Pokémon were real I would love Flying-types. In the games, however, they fall remarkably short of {{tt|every other type|I haven't played Generation VI yet, so I don't have a judgment on the Fairy type}} in my opinion.
Got this one off the GTS. Generous guy, whoever its OT is.


Something else about me is that I very much dislike legendary Pokémon for several reasons. They are caught at a very high level in the wild, so even with the great base stats they'll still be weaker than your already-trained Pokémon. The only {{p|Regigigas|non-event legendary}} that is caught at a low level has a {{a|Slow Start|terrible ability}}. Speaking of abilities, way too many legendaries have {{a|Pressure|the same one}}. Also, in terms of overall appearance, the legendary Pokémon {{p|Zapdos|started}} {{p|Moltres|off}} {{p|Articuno|looking}} {{p|Mew|pretty}} {{p|Lugia|reasonably}} {{p|Celebi|cool}}, but then they {{p|Darkrai|began}} {{p|Thundurus|to}} {{p|Tornadus|look}} {{p|Landorus|more}} {{p|Reshiram|and}} {{p|Zekrom|more}} {{p|Kyurem|ridiculous}}. That said, I do have a favorite legendary, which is {{p|Heatran}}. Again, I have absolutely no idea why. I literally just decided one day that Heatran was my favorite legendary Pokémon.

Absolutely hacked, level 100, with six perfect IVs, but someone was bound and determined to give it to me, so I might as well use it.


Also, while I consider myself to have decent writing skills, I am still a novice editor and am inexperienced with most wikicode. I am a human being (but if you'd like to think otherwise, that's fine) and I make mistakes like the next person.

I can't honestly say that I remember when I first really started getting into Pokémon, but my very first game was Pokémon Ruby. I was really young when I first started playing and I didn't know how to do ''anything'', but I have since then gotten a lot better and I am now acquainted with this concept of IV-breeding and EV-training. What? There's actual ''math'' behind Pokémon battles? How about that. After a while, I began actively paying attention to my Pokémon's stats and IVs and I finally got truly good{{tt|*|at least by my standards}} at making competitive Pokémon in Omega Ruby, where I now spend much of my time battling other people online via the Battle Spot. I also play the Pokémon Ranger and Mystery Dungeon games.

It's debatable whether I'm a bigger fan of the anime or the games. I've seen every main series episode of the anime and I've been making sure to watch each new episode as soon as possible. I still haven't seen all of the Chronicles yet, but I have seen all of the movies. I love the anime. It's a lot of fun and although I do like other animes, I like that Pokémon isn't as graphic (or sometimes just plain disturbing) as others can be. My favorite episode is ''[[EP039|Pikachu's Goodbye]]'' and my favorite characters include Misty, James, Max, Cilan, Iris, Clemont, and Bonnie. I like all of the main characters, actually. I'd just say that those are my favorites.

* [[Ash's Pikachu]] seems to be very good at hitting Ground-type Pokémon with Electric-type attacks, even fainting {{tt|one of them|Otoshi's Marowak}} with a Thunder Shock.
** On a similar note, characters in the anime are constantly saying that Electric-type moves have a hard time damaging Rock-type Pokémon. Uh... no, they don't.
** In the Hoenn League saga, Pikachu's attacks were more frequently ineffective against Ground-types, but the show blew it again when [[Joshua (Coordinator)|someone's]] {{p|Houndoom}} damaged [[May's Skitty]] with a {{m|Shadow Ball}}.
* The fandom's obsession with {{p|Charizard}}. Not only was it voted the fan favorite Pokémon, but it ''actually has two Mega Evolutions!'' Why??? What purpose does this serve??? {{p|Venusaur}} and {{p|Blastoise}} only have one each and, in my opinion, both of them are way better and more useful than Charizard.

I can't honestly say that I remember when I first really started getting into Pokémon, but my very first game was Pokémon Ruby. I was really young when I first started playing and I didn't know how to do anything, but I have since then gotten a lot better and I am now acquainted with this concept of IV-breeding and EV-training. What? There's actual math behind Pokémon battles? How about that. After a while, I began actively paying attention to my Pokémon's stats and IVs and I finally got truly good* at making competitive Pokémon in Omega Ruby, where I now spend much of my time battling other people online via the Battle Spot. I also play the Pokémon Ranger and Mystery Dungeon games.
