Standards and/or infoboxes?

I know this is a fresh project, but what kind of standards should we have for the articles? Most of the item articles will likely be like Potion and Held items, with a list of items by group, so maybe these two articles (maybe Potion more than Held items) should be the basis for a standard. As for an infobox, I personally think that it would be unnecessary. What I do think is necessary, though, as I said at Talk:Items, is a footer template that links the articles. --TMF T - C 21:03, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Concur'd. --Pie 22:11, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Pie, what do you think of having the TOC aligned right like I have it set up on Held items? For shorter articles, this wouldn't be necessary, but for ones with many headings (as Held items will when it is completed), the aligned-right TOC allows users to view the contents of the article while allowing those users to get right to the article. --TMF T - C 17:35, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
I think it's a good idea, and certainly helps with the held items article. For ones with less items, such as potion and ether, I agree, it's not really necessary. --Pie 18:03, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Merging articles

Given the sheer number of Items and how simple and similar to other items many of them are, I think we can all agree that the group articles system is best, right? So, on that note, some things which need merging...

  • Metal Coat, obviously, needs to be merged onto the held items page.
  • Mach Bike and Acro Bike - given the size of these articles, perhaps they should be added to the main Bicycle article. I mean, personally, I don't see why they were split off.
  • Old Rod, Good Rod and Super Rod - again, given the size of these articles, perhaps they should be merged into a Rod article.
  • Blue Flute should be in a group article with other glass flutes - or, perhaps, the glass flutes, the Time Flute, and the Poké Flute should be altogether. However, despite all being flutes, the glass flutes do seem quite different from the Time Flute and Poké Flute - and it isn't unusual for us to have separate article for unusual parts of an item group which more can be said about - note all the links near the bottom of the Poké Ball article. Perhaps something like that could be done for the Flute article.

Thoughts? --Pie 22:11, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Points 1 through 3: completely agree. Point 4: we should definitely create a Flute article that covers every flute. This article would be the main page for the glass flutes and would have a blurb about the Poké and Time flutes, along with a link to the main articles (using Template:Main preferably, see Goldenrod City for how I've implemented it). --TMF T - C 22:32, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
...Eh, hope you don't mind. I already merged the Rod articles into the Fishing one, and made those redirects. I maybe should've joined the project first, but I'm new here so I don't know much (though I did my research to make the redirects and headings and everything...) Now on that article we just need info on where the rods are in Sinnoh, and maybe some images too... --Memo326 15:59, 18 April 2007 (Don't know which time zone :P)
Doesn't seem like a very active project... Anyway, already merged the Mach and Acro Bike articles into the main Bicycle article, and made those redirects to their specific section. Also added some info on the Bike in Sinnoh and basically rewrote all of the Bicycle article... --Memo326 23:11, 11 May 2007 (Still don't know which time zone...)
This is Bulbapedia, all our projects are kinda slow-moving. ^^o Anyway, TTE has been disputing the idea of not giving articles to the individual items... essentially giving us one or two big overall articles (item and the list), a good number of articles for the item families, and a buttload of short individual articles. So, I eventually gave him an ultimatum... that the only way we can have the individual item articles is if people can show me that they can expand articles enough that we won't have ten billion stubs on our hands. --Pie ~ 05:03, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Eh... I think I should've read this before I merged the Nugget article into the Valuable items one and the Heart Scale article into the Exchangeable items one (which I made from scratch =) )... Hope it wasn't his/her (:S) work I had reverted... Anyway, I particularly think we should have these articles on groups of items rather than each individual item having its own article. I mean... that's the only thing I've been doing since I joined XD. --Memo326 23:37, 16 May 2007

Items in Generation IV/Diamond Pearl

Some of the Item locations for the first three Generations swap between the games and grouping the entire Generations, which seems OK enough as some items are found the same way in every game in that Generation, but where there already is Diamond/Pearl information, a lot of it is tagged as Generation IV data. Considering there are likely to be quite a number of additions to Generation IV and that it can't be confirmed that the same methods will be distributed across all the games, I'd say it makes sense just to use (D/P) for now and, should the method ring true for every game in the Generation by the time Generation V comes along, just edit that to Generation IV instead.

I've done this with all the items in the Held Items page, but would like to put forward that it become a standard.--Doctor Oak 17:35, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
