Template:Incomplete synopsis
Ash and friends return to New Bark Town, but before Ash is able to register for the Johto League Championship, Professor Elm sends him on an errand to retrieve a Pokémon egg from a nearby marine Pokémon laboratory. At the laboratory, Ash and friends meet up with a young researcher who uses the supersonic waves from a Lanturn to detect the singing voices of traveling Lapras.
Major events

- It is revealed that Ash's Lapras has become the leader of its herd.

Trivia
- Team Rocket uses the Gyarados submarine again, complete with boosters.
- The episode title is a reference to the phrase "lap of luxury".
- In this episode, Team Rocket uses a variation of their motto.
- This episode makes Lapras the second of Ash's previously released Pokémon that he has reunited with, the first being Charizard.
Errors
- Brock's statement that they haven't seen Lapras since "we were in the Orange Islands" is obviously untrue as Brock stayed with Professor Ivy in the Orange Islands and never saw Lapras; Tracey was traveling with Ash and Misty at that point. This is a dub only error.
- In the English dub Ash mistakenly tells his Lapras to use "Cold Beam" instead of Ice Beam.
- When the Lapras freezes Arbok and Weezing, they are seen frozen together, but when Pikachu uses Thunder, they are now separated.
- When Ash goes to battle Team Rocket and is subsequently stopped by Brock, he calls for Pikachu, but he has a Poké Ball in his hand.
