From or to

So it reduces damage from, not to an ally? Which means, if the ally uses Surf or Earthquake then it'd be reduced damage to your Pokémon? R.A. Hunter Blade 04:17, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Clarification

Does this only reduce damage the Pokémon with this ability does to an ally? Is all attack damage to allies reduced, even that from the opponent's moves? Or does it decrease all damage to allies whatsoever, even indirect damage like poisoning or hail? --AndyPKMN (talk) 12:05, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Stack?

Does Friend Friend Guard stack in Triple Battles? Venus253 17:26, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Friend Guard does indeed stack in Triple Battles. A friend of mine helped me test this.

First Battle (one Friend Guard): My Talonflame survived a STAB Brave Bird from the other Talonflame. She lost 95 HP out of 162.

Second Battle (two Friend Guards): Same procedure. However, my Talonflame lost 78 HP out of 162.

While they don't stack exactly, seeing as attacks never do the same amount of damage consistently, the effects of Friend Guard DO stack in Triple Battles. LittleOmu (talk) 00:47, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Stacking

So the above section (but not the article, at least yet) mentions that Friend Guard does stack if multiple allies have the Ability. So my next question is, how exactly does it stack? (The above example is nowhere near specific enough to determine this.)

With two allies with Friend Guard, do they take 0.5625 of the normal damage ((1-0.25)*(1-0.25) = 0.75*0.75 = 0.5625), or 0.5 of the normal damage (1-(0.25+0.25) = 1-0.5 = 0.5)? In a Horde Battle, if four opponents have Friend Guard (due to Skill Swap or similar), does the other one take 0.31640625 of the normal damage ((1-0.25)*(1-0.25)*(1-0.25)*(1-0.25) = (0.75)^4 = 0.31640625) or no damage at all (1-(0.25+0.25+0.25+0.25) = 1-1 = 0)? (Obviously, there will be some rounding errors in the actual calculation, so the latter option may not actually result in 0.) --SnorlaxMonster 13:40, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Trivia Suggestion

Should the page have a trivia note stating that Vivillon is the only fully-evolved Pokémon with this ability? Pseudonym (talk) 16:07, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
