This is just speculation of course, but the name may have a some influence from Migaloo, a White Humpback Whale first discovered in 1991. It's quite famous in Australia, which is a national friend of Japan and common vacation destination for many, so he may have also become somewhat popular in Japan and influenced Lugia's name. | |||
