Generation I encompassed two series with [[S01|Pokémon: Indigo League]], which had a total of [[List of original series episodes#Indigo League arc|80 episodes (as well as two specials)]] and [[S02|Pokémon: Adventures in the Orange Islands]], which had a total of [[List of original series episodes#Orange League arc|35 episodes]].

The first season follows {{Ash}}, {{AP|Pikachu}}, {{an|Misty}}, {{an|Brock}} through the [[Kanto]] region as Ash gathers enough badges to compete in the [[Pokémon League]]. Along the way the {{TRT}} are their main antagonists causing trouble as they perform evil schemes and try to capture Ash's Pikachu.
