A lot of users adapt this template to suit their needs. You should try that. —darklordtrom 22:00, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Revision history of Pokémon

May i ask what the revision of this page at 20:12, 1 January 2010 said? i was probably some horrible profanity, but im just dying to know. thank you, Shiny Pika 22:01, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

No, you may not. The purpose of hiding the revision history is so that no one can see it. —darklordtrom 22:03, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

The 'Canonity' of The Complete Pokémon Pocket Guide

Hello Trom. (as you prefer to be called that) Taking Zesty Cactus's advice, I ask you, (as you are an administrator) if statements or clarifications provided by The Complete Pokémon Pocket Guide can be considered canon (and thus proper to use for species pages), or should be designated to Trivia portions. As an example, it has been known by multiple Pokédex entries that Butterfree possesses a superior ability to locate flower nectar, however, exactly how Butterfree does this has not been hinted at. The Complete Pokémon Pocket Guide says "Butterfree loves flower nectar and can locate fields of flowers just by smell" which would imply that Butterfree uses a sense of smell to locate the flowers or that Butterfree is alerted to the flowers by their smell (instead of by ultraviolet light, as I think bees do, for example, or other factors). What do you think about this? Steph 04:42, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

I think we have information from similar sources, so yes? For the record, butterflies do have a very good sense of smell, so this wouldn't be too far out of left field. —darklordtrom 07:59, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Eh

For this, I only did that because Deth had already taken it off. And I'm still thinking that when it says December, that it means of 2008. I've been doing that a lot lately. R.A. Hunter Blade 13:26, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

I thought that was the case. Didn't see that deth had done anything but that's alright. Something needs to be done about those PMD teams, though. They are of some importance to the plot, I gather (not that I've played), so they do need a mention somewhere. —darklordtrom 04:46, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion

Wouldn't it be better to place something like {{bad picture}}'s "Reason: Not specified" in {{incomplete}}, so that we wouldn't have to use <!-- --> when we have specific reasons? tc²₆tc26 06:39, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Done. It's purely optional, but of course preferred. —darklordtrom 06:48, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

RE: Your Name

Hey. Just read your message. The name was aimed at the minisprite of glitch Pokemon in G3, but if you must, just change it to the usual name I sign up with on forums: Mr. PBJ. Thanks.

Nicknames

When a trainer has nicknamed their pokemon, like with Misty and Daisy's Caserin and Luverin, shouldn't their names be specified with the species's name in parenthesis? ex: Luverin (Luvdisc)? AuraGaurdian 23:07, 18 January 2010 (UTC) Phew, that was a close one. Almost forgot!

Where are you talking about? On the Pokémon's article, in other articles, or in the article name? —darklordtrom 07:12, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
In the trainer's article, where it lists their pokemon... AuraGaurdian 23:57, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Nothing important

But what's wrong with the hyphens? I used them grammatically correct, and me liek them! =P MaverickNate 20:07, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Actually, no. Hyphens join together two words. Ever had a kid in your class called Ann-Marie? If you want to use dashes to separate two parts of a sentence, you should have used a space, then an &endash; (on either side) or an —. I think the parenthesis look more professional. —darklordtrom 20:20, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
I did mean to say dash, I erroneously use the words dash and hyphen when speaking about the same thing*. But you are also incorrect in something. You do not use spaces around dashes. They go right after the previous word, and directly before the preceding one. MaverickNate 22:18, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, it appears you're almost right. Regardless, the larger emdash should have been used, as this dash is used for separating a parenthetical thought; the small endash is generally used as a joiner. If used parenthetically, then it does require a space. (All this brought to you by Wikipedia). —darklordtrom 07:18, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Pah! wikipedia has outdated information since the MLA format for everything was changed in 2009. MaverickNate 23:55, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
Or maybe it's different for American English. Who knows? I just know that I'm right too. MaverickNate

Quick Legal Question

I notice that you're being asked a lot of questions, and you were kind enough to help with my user page problem. I have a legal question: I am soon going to redesign my user page and I wish to licence my writing under a mere CC-BY licence (rather than the CC-BY-NC-SA licence that the rest of the site follows). Given that the writing will be my own, would you generally frown upon this, or grudgingly accept it and move on? Cjcurry 12:51, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

From what I see, this only removes the share-alike aspect. This makes me think you want to use the same content on two or more different wikis. I asked the Echidna about this; he replied: "You wanna use the same one across any number of wikis, go for it. Just don't go jacking our coding to do it." So basically we don't think there's a need for another license; you have permission to crosswiki (if that's what you're going for). —darklordtrom 21:20, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey Trom...

...long time no see. Listen, I had an idea today that we could maybe include fossils into the evobox template. I realized that {{Evobox/Setup}} already works fine with them and was able to make really tiny adjustments to the basic template at the bottom ofthis page to incorporate it. I was wondering if you could maybe run it by the higher-ups and see if we can make it official.
P.S. I still have some ideas for Volbeat, Illumise, Manaphy and Phione but I was told last time that a certain monotreme "already had plans". If it's as far on the back-burner for him as I think it is, could you inquire if I could do that too before you update the template. Thanks, MisterE13 06:04, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't speak evobox, but I've waved it under the monotreme's nose. —darklordtrom 22:38, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

sandbox

Am I able to start a article of pokemon in nz in my sandbox.Like you said you might do after your exams. Thanks --Solid! 07:43, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, go for it. I haven't had as much time as I'd expected. —darklordtrom 11:33, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Cool.I will base it off the pokemon in canada article or similar but relation to nz obvisously.Would that be a good way to start?--Solid! 01:39, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Sounds good to me. —darklordtrom 06:48, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Ive started it.Its in early stages of info editing.I hopes it gonna work seeing as its the only article that has english as it's only launguage for the pokemon dubs.Feel free to chip in if you have time. Thanks --Solid! 08:01, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Why did you delete that?

Why did you delete the synopsis from AG030? I had written that after watching the show. Why is it not original? Mudkipluvr4ever 06:21, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

It strikes me as far too similar to this one. I realize they cover the same content, and you do have some original content, but the sentence structure is almost identical and some phrases are exactly the same (I'm looking in particular at the first part and the last part). It would appear as if you had copied the synopsis from Serebii.net - this is something that would not be okay. If you didn't, and this is all a random coincidence, I'm sure you wouldn't mind completely rewording your synopsis so that it doesn't look anything like the one on Serebii.net. —darklordtrom 06:57, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Sure i will totally reword it! Didn't mean to! i looked at it and i guess it was simialr! Thanks! Mudkipluvr4ever 15:55, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

THE DARK LORD TROMBONATOR

Where have you been? I've been waiting for you to come on AIM so we can chat about things and stuff. Your friend, --RexRacer 09:08, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

REX RACER. I'm terribly sorry I've been missing you recently. You know how it is with work and summer, so I'll make sure to get on AIM as soon as I possibly can. Shall we say tomorrow night, my time? With luck, I should be on board around 0700 UTC. I don't want to keep you up, though; you'll need your sleep. Love and kisses, —darklordtrom 11:27, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
THE DARK LORD TROMBONATOR. I appreciate the time you've taken to craft such a nice reply just for me. I'm looking forward to seeing you tonight, and we should be able to discuss all sorts of interesting matters. Your good friend, --RexRacer 18:34, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
REX RACER. I waited up for hours. I should be online at a more reasonable hour tomorrow. No work :) Yours in solitude, —darklordtrom 10:23, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Welcom Page?

how come you dont have a welcome page on your user talk??--Lambie 05:53, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

I've been left too many messages for one talk page. The welcome I was given when I signed up is located here. When my talk page gets too big, I move the old messages to a new page. —darklordtrom 06:04, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
What happens when you run out of stones? (Impressively creative, BTW.) FromCrimsonToWool 15:26, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
They'll only be stones for the next two months. At the start of April, I'll change my talk header as I have been doing for the past year and a bit. —darklordtrom 20:41, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

HGSS

Can you protect it please? I know you just blocked VB, but others are bound to do that. R.A. Hunter Blade 21:41, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Done. I'd like to have as few pages protected as possible, but it looks like that one will have to be out of bounds. Let's try and keep the rest of them clean, guys. —darklordtrom 21:47, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

changing my username

Can you tell me how I could change my username to rustyshakelford? Oh, and I apollogize for changing the names for the trainers. I thought they were official. --Vampirebidoof 15:45, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Please ignore that. That was my friend that said that. What I would like to know is how to change my password. --Vampirebidoof 14:13, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Special:ChangePassword. Don't tell the new one to your friend, and don't leave your account logged in if he's going to be using your computer. —darklordtrom 01:19, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Thx! I didn't tell him the password he figured it out. --Vampirebidoof 01:45, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

EP026 error or no error?

The EP026 article mentions that Erica refuses to accept Ash's challenge (In the error section). However, it was not Erica refusing his challenge, but the people who were there refusing to let him in the gym because he didn't like perfume... Should this be deleted? I posted this in the episode's discussion page, but no one responded, so I came here. --AuraGaurdian 21:54, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

I thought Erica didn't want boys in her gym? —darklordtrom 05:13, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
That belief is already contradicted when they had Brock at the gym with her (she could have easily thrown him out.). It was actually because of the Perfume incident. Weedle Mchairybug 05:53, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
It was the perfume. Ash said he didn't think it smelled good, so they booted him out. It had nothing to do with him being a boy, other than that he was a normal 10 year old boy hating girly things. R.A. Hunter Blade 13:28, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
Then shouldn't we remove the error section in EP026? The only reason its there is to point out that Erica refused the gym battle even though Brock mentions that its a league rule. As we've discussed, it was really the perfume incident that the people in the gym refused to let him in, but not Erica. Ash didn't even have the chance to ask Erica in person for a gym battle... --AuraGaurdian 22:49, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
In the dub at least when Ash finally encounters Erica face to face she says, and I quote, "I accept your challenge. It's my duty under the league rules." However according to the article in question this line is actually a dub edit. Ash being barred from the gym is done without Erica's knowledge by her subordinates (or at least Ash never actually meets Erica until he actually challenges her). There's my 2 cents. Refunds available.--Beligaronia (talk) 23:13, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
I'd like a refund. NZ currency of course ;) So basically what we've learned here is that if we don't think something's correct on a page, we need to check the original source. If it's Erika that refuses the challenge, then we put that. If it's her bitches associates out front that aren't letting Ash battle Erika, then we need to remove the trivial point. —darklordtrom 06:32, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Yes, finally, someone agreed enough with me to actually do it! Thanks person. --AuraGaurdian 21:41, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

On the matter of Habitat canonity

I have noticed that some Habitat details for Pokémon seem to have no discernible canon basis. For example, on Monferno it says "Monferno live in rainforests on mountains", but I do not know of any media ever actually stating this. Thus, I am under the impression it was presumption--educated, perhaps, as some primates would live in such a habitat, but unofficial and non-canon. As it seems unlikely such presumption would be encouraged, how should the matter be dealt with? Steph 14:40, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Doublecheck Pokédex entries (from the anime, manga, and games), and TCG info. If it's not mentioned in either of them, it would be ok to remove. —darklordtrom 21:47, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
