From Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia.
Hi! I'm evkl, a Vice Webmaster of Bulbagarden and an Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Bulbapedia.
My name is Evan, but I go by evkl online, all lowercase. I've been working on Bulbagarden since Archaic took over in December of 2002, first working on the forums and later serving as the first Editor-in-Chief of Bulbapedia. I was the head of the Forums from 2006-ish until January of 2011, when I became Chief of Staff of Bulbagarden. Since 2012 I've been one of the Vice Webmasters of the site, overseeing high-level operations. I currently live and work in the NYC area.
I've been playing Pokémon since I was 9, so that's quite a while ago. I've played multiple games in every Generation, although I've played less as time has gone on - other commitments took over and I think the quality of the series has been on a general gradual decline (which does not lessen my affection for the franchise or the work I do for Bulbagarden.)
On other personal notes, I think knowledge is very important. I also think music is very important. Those two aren't really related at all, I'm just saying. On the knowledge front, I think Bulbapedia is a very good thing, as a specialized repository for knowledge that otherwise wouldn't be aggregated anywhere else. And learning in general is really good, and you should do your homework before you make edits on 'Pedia. On the music front, if you're talking to me, expect an away message or signature or something involving an obscure reference to music or lyrics. Or maybe not-so-obscure. Katy Perry is cool with me. Music is complex and relaxing--and we're missing both in our lives a lot.
I'm a mediator, adviser, and creative consultant to the current Bulbapedia Editorial Board. If you have a problem, feel free to contact me--I'll do my best to try and fix it. The directory, at the top of all of my pages, links to some of the projects I'm currently working on. If there's something you'd like my help with, just drop me a line on my talk page. Don't feel like you're intruding or bothering me. I like to help.
