- When you're coding something, the "equal sign" acts as a divider between a parameter name and its content. Thus, it is impossible to put a "=" into the output of a template. We can get around this by calling the "=" symbol with another template. —darklordtrom 02:58, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Update
After successfully updating MediaWiki to 1.39, this template will be unnecessary because the {{=}} magic word does the same thing. --C.Ezra.M (T/C) 15:56, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
