The meaning of the Crystal Onix

Is this Crystal Onix just a case of alternate-colored Pokémon as hinted by the link? It appears to me that:

  • It's actually an Onix that has lived underground so much time, its structure is becoming diamondish. Since Steelix hadn't be introduced yet, they made a crystal Onix which was more vulnerable to Fire than to Water.
  • Or it's like any other Onix, except made of crystaline "rock" and that's why it's an inspiration for craftsmen.

Any thoughts? --Johans 00:05, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Its an alternate colouration to me because it isn't the usual colour. TESHTALK 20:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
