There is an active debate of the validity of the hints in the list in this Bulbagarden thread. All are welcome to contribute.

Notability

Are we allowed to add ourselves to the "Notable Advanceshippers" section? I always figured there was a commitee or something... -Cassius335

Just to let you guys know, I don't think the fact that the only gift Ash got from is friends shown in that epsode was May's is an actual hint, because I think it's just showing all his gifts from Sinnoh~ Glaceony Way too many, there... Tina δ 21:54, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Agreed; I'm going to remove all of the irrelevent ones now. The other day I did a bit of clean-up to the article, and completely removed the list of Advanceshippers. That's just plain fancrufty. Matkin22 21:56, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
The term "fancruft" does not compute on this wiki. --FabuVinny T-C-S 22:09, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, it sounds too close to "fancrud"DaPikanator56 19:07, 30 March 2008 (UTC)DaPikanator56
It may not be as strict as some other places for citations and such (ex. Wikipedia), but it should still be as professional as possible; having a list of every single person who supports SatoHaru does not conform to that since it is just fans trying to have their name on the wiki; that is the point that I was trying to make. Matkin22 22:15, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Er, that particular list had three names; one is a fictional pair, one is notorious AdvanceShipper and one is Archaic, the webmaster. Where are the fans trying to get their name on the wiki? --FabuVinny T-C-S 22:20, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
This link is from Advanceshipping General Discussion on the BMGF. People began talking about updating the page, and then it seemed as if everyone wanted their names added to the list of Advanceshippers. Rather than have a mere three people on the list (containing one of whom is, as you pointed out, fictional, and another who is no longer an Advanceshipper but a Constestshipper), I chose to remove the list rather than expand it to include every Advanceshipper on BMGF, Serebii, Fanfiction.net, and the dozens of other fansites and forums in several different languages. As for the rest of my edits, they were just a little clean-up, rewrite, and expansion in some locations. All of the main points remain intact. Matkin22 22:40, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
You could maybe have left a few of the external sites in, you know... Cassius335 23:09, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
I will add some more back in. Matkin22 23:30, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

May's return

The scene from Diamond and Pearl shouldn't be referred to as evidence of AdvanceShipping. May attributes the ribbon to Satoshi-tachi's encouragement which refers to Ash, Brock, and Max collectively and not Ash alone. If she's not referring to Ash exclusively, then it can't possibly have romantic connotations. --Swifty 16:02, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

R u saying it's the equivalent of the Pokeball halves?--Kuki (w/ a Broken Diamond) 16:31, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

New Items at the bottom, please.
The ribbon is a symbol of the bond between Ash and May. At worst, any future romance would have that bond to work from. - Cassius335 17:08, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Well.

Now both of them have...

  • Their region's Fire starter (Charizard, Blaziken)
  • Their region's butterfly (Butterfree, Beautifly)
  • Their region's Gen III co-star region's Grass starter (Sceptile, Venusaur)
  • Members of the Snorlax family that they caught after it ate everything
  • One Pokémon that evolves by stone, but at one time had two before one evolved in an alternate manner (Pikachu and Snorunt, Skitty and Eevee)
  • Starters from more than one region (the only characters to do so!)

Interesting, eh? Dawn must be jealous. TTEchidna 17:14, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Since you're refferring to the stage II's, they technically have each others regional Grass Starter. - Cassius335 10:58, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Which happens to be the region that co-stars with their home region in Generation III. TTEchidna 04:03, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Regions don't "co-star". They're land masses, not characters. - Cassius335 12:07, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Jirachi Wish Maker

At one point, didn't May just do the wish for the night, then look at Ash and smile? SD13 Simpsondude13>SD13 Talk 12:37, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Already listed. Check under movies The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 12:40, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes, she did, but it was never proved what May's wish was, or if it was related to Ash in any way, so, we can't conclude that the wish was Advanceshippy... Sp1derp1g Nothing is true, everything is permitted 12:43, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

there's an advanceshipping hint in bw

in the beginning the BW001 you see may's teddiursa carving she gave ash sitting on his drawers in front of his trophies.

Not a hint. He has a lot of things from people in his room. Paul's Soothe Bells, the Focus Band from the expert, Palmer's trophy, etc. Does that mean he's in love with all of them? --ケンジガール 02:38, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

May's Return #2

"Further indication is that when both May and Ash say their goodbyes, each of their eyes glimmer." 1- May's eyes glimmered when she was talking to Brock. 2- I saw the episode, and Ash's eyes wren't glimmering. This hint was really blown out of proportion for AdvanceShipping, so I just wanted to see if that should be changed. Metallicax3 08:37, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

'Not necessarily romantic"?

"It is said that any couple meeting this Pokémon is promised a loving relationship that never ends."—as "any couple" could also mean "friends", and the relationship in question may not necessarily be romantic."

I'm having a hard time linking "A loving relationship" with "not necessarily romantic." I get that it could mean familial relationship, but a loving friendship (between 2 people of the opposite gender, no less) is slightly hard to understand. Maybe some kind of rewording?
