Confusion (Japanese: ねんりき Mindpower) is a damage-dealing Psychic-type move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Generation I

Confusion does damage and has a 9.8% chance of confusing the target. Confusion can't confuse a target that is already confused.

In Stadium, Confusion can't confuse a target that has a Substitute.

In the anime

Pokémon

Kadabra. Kadabra's eyes turn red, and it uses psychic powers to control attacks and people.

Psyduck. Its eyes glow blue or purple and the target is then outlined in the same color. It uses psychic powers to move it.

Mewtwo. Mewtwo raises its hands and they become surrounded in blue aura. Mewtwo can lift the target(s) with its mind and control attacks and people.

Golduck. Golducks's eyes glow blue and it can control things with its mind.

Noctowl. Its eyebrow tufts turn blue and release a blue light

Venomoth. Its eyes turn blue and it uses psychic powers to move objects.

Baltoy. Its eyes turn blue and it uses psychic powers to move objects.

Dustox. Its eyes turn purple and it uses psychic powers to move something.

Trivia

  • "Confusion" may not be an entirely correct name, as in the case of the anime, Confusion often causes its target to float in midair, which may not make sense to those unaware of the attack's original Japanese name of Mindpower.
    • In the anime, Confusion seems to have the exact same effect as the move Psychic.
