Revision as of 21:20, 11 November 2021

Two things: First, is the lack of roundy styling on the type section (which differs from previous gen versions) intentional, or accidental? And second, my guess is this template should be protected (like its predecessors are). Miles (talk) 21:04, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

The type cells are rounded, just not as severely as the previous templates. The previous templates will be modified, eventually, to use the same cells as this template does. As for the reasons for the change:
  1. The cells on the previous templates are incredibly inconsistently sized. A cell for Bug will be much smaller than one for Fighting. This update makes the cells consistently sized, regardless of type, similar in format to the icons used within the games.
  2. This style of type indication is also in place on the species infobox, which can be found on every single Pokémon species article. This helps create style consistency between multiple templates.
I hope that helps put any concerns to bed. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 08:38, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Forms

Just a question: what if a future Generation 6 game has a requirement for this template, but the trainer possess a Pokémon with a form that cannot be changed (eg: Wormadam). It does not look like this template can handle that. UxieLover1994 (talk) 14:11, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

You use the parameter |form= to change the artwork to a necessary appearance. In the case of Wormadam, you would input |form=-Sandy, or if someone had a Zygarde (which there is no Sugi art for, yet), it would be |form=_Dream. Whatever artwork you need to use, |form= adds the additional descriptors following the filename ###pokémon . Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 14:24, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. UxieLover1994 (talk) 14:36, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

3D models

As far as I'm aware, all 3D models from Generation VI (only excluding the new ORAS Megas) have been uploaded into the Archives. Are they ever going to be used with this template, and if yes, can someone say when? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:14, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Until then, what should we do about Pokémon whose Form or Forme names are in the title of their picture? —Pokéglare (talk) 03:00, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Gender

I'd like to make a suggestion, that if Pokemon can be either gender, meaning it isn't specifically programmed which one it is, then it could just not show gender symbols. Cell for Pokemon's Name/Gender/Level is very small so it often breaks into two lines of text what looks worse.--Rocket Grunt (Report To Me) 10:34, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

Template:Num2N and Template:N2Num

Why don't we just rip out the "ndex" parameter and instead use {{p|{{N2Num|{{{pokemon}}}}}}}? my userpage talk 18:10, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

Animated 3D models

With all the 3D models uploaded in the archives, when are we going to animate them and use them for this template? And also, why are all move screenshots from games with 2D sprites animated but move screenshots from games with 3D models aren't? my userpage talk 18:00, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

Because they are bigger in bytes and will put stress on the server, especially the more bigger models. And especially if we're going to have multiple models animating at the same time, it'll just make the site slower. 2D animation do not put stress on the server, hence why they are animated.--ForceFire 07:03, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
Then couldn't we just add a link to a file outside the archives for the animated models? I know a site that has the animated models. Fine with the staff? my userpage talk 18:47, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
No, that's not happening.--ForceFire 07:30, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

Shiny Pokémon

I know i said this in the sandbox, and i am saying it again here, can we have a Template:ShinyPoké for exoticpoke's shiny art on deviantart? i am thinking of a shiny mega gardevoir that a trainer in my fake region is using, but this doesn't seem to allow deviantart images. I tried {{subst:Pokémon/6}} so i could edit the raw code, but it still won't give me an external image. i saw a deviantart image on ikarishipper900's page, but it used a much shorter url. if someone can do that to exoticpoke's images on the sandbox that would be very helpful. my userpage talk 17:57, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

HOME sprites

so you use gen 8 HOME sprites for a gen 6 template, but you don't care to crop even the static gen 6 in-game sprites and use them instead? i think we're just better off using the dream world artwork. my userpage talk 17:24, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

??? We use the sugimori artwork for Gen VI+ teams. If there is no sugimori artwork for certain Pokemon/forms, then we have to use whatever actually exists, in Gladion's (a Gen VII character) case the HOME models. We haven't used sprites, let alone models, for the teams since Gen V.--ForceFire 17:37, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
then let's just go back to using dream world artwork for template:pokemon/6 and template:pokemon/7 and make a new template:pokemon/8 problem solved!! my userpage talk 02:08, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
just to confirm, you use the HOME sprites for trevor, who was clearly released even before the Switch. grookeyscorbunnysobble 19:11, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
