Release information

This card was included in the English EX Ruby & Sapphire expansion, first released in the Japanese Torchic Constructed Starter Deck, with artwork by Ken Sugimori. The Holofoil version found in the Torchic Constructed Starter Deck was printed in English as one of the Nintendo Black Star Promos and was awarded through various European POP tournaments in July 2004. This print features a foil Poké Ball symbol in the bottom right of the illustration.

It was later reprinted as another Nintendo Black Star Promo with different artwork by Atsuko Nishida and was awarded through the Pokémon League in September 2003. The Japanese version was later released as part of a McDonald's campaign in January 2003. Subsequent EX Ruby & Sapphire prints of this card included in the EX Battle Stadium Deck Kit, as well as the Blaziken EX Master Trainer Deck, lack the e-Reader Dot Code strip and feature a normal border following the cessation of TCG support for the e-Reader starting with the EX Hidden Legends expansion.
