This card was included as a Regular card, a Full Art ultra rare card, a special illustration rare card, and a gold etched hyper rare card in the Paldea Evolved expansion, first released in the Japanese Triplet Beat subset. The Regular, Full Art, and hyper rare prints feature artwork by 5ban Graphics, while the special illustration rare print features artwork by Souichirou Gunjima. An SVP Black Star Promo version of the card with artwork by 5ban Graphics was included in the Paldea Partners Tins, released on September 1, 2023. This SVP Black Star Promotional print was released in Japan, alongside a new Shiny ultra rare print with artwork by the same illustrator, as part of the Shiny Treasure ex subset. A Jumbo-sized variant of the SVP Black Star Promo was released in the Quaquaval ex Collection, released exclusively in Portuguese. The Shiny ultra rare print was later released as another SVP Black Star Promo available in the Paldean Fates Quaquaval ex Premium Collection from February 9, 2024.

Trivia

The special illustration rare print is one of numerous cards to feature an illustration that is part of a narrative. Following from the Quaxwell card, the Quaxwell has evolved into a Quaquaval, who is admiring itself in front of a mirror. A soap dispenser designed after Poliwrath can be seen.
