Trivia

This card has been banned from all sanctioned Pokémon TCG tournaments using the Expanded format since October 4, 2019 in Japan and November 15, 2019 internationally as it was ruled to create an unbalanced playing environment. The specific concerns were:

  • To protect the hand size of the opponent on the first and second turns of the game due to its Ability.
  • A specific combo in Japanese tournaments used Marshadow's Ability to dwindle the opponent's hand up to no cards on the first turn.

It was also later banned in Hong Kong and Taiwan from June 19, 2020, and in the Gym Leader Challenge format from September 1, 2024.[1]

Origin

The Let Loose Ability was first seen as a Poké-POWER on Giratina from Platinum. Shadow Punch is a move in the Pokémon games that Marshadow can learn. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Sun.
