KAORI

KAORI. (born February 28, 1976) is a Japanese voice actress for Pokémon the Series.

Biography

KAORI. was born in Kanagawa, Japan. She had used the stage name Midori Kawana (Japanese: 川菜翠 Kawana Midori) until December 1999; she had used the name Akiko Kawana (Japanese: 川菜明子 Kawana Akiko) prior. In Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl, she is credited as Kaori Suzuki (Japanese: 鈴木カオリ Suzuki Kaori).

KAORI.'s most prominent role in Pokémon the Series is May. She played that character until the end of Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire, when May left the series. She returned to voicing May briefly during Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl. In May 2012, KAORI. revealed in a blog post that she had been diagnosed with a severe health condition affecting her larynx known as spasmodic dysphonia, severely impairing her ability to speak.[1] As a result, neither May nor Max have made any further appearances in Pokémon the Series following Pokémon: The Series: Diamond and Pearl except in either flashbacks or brief, non-speaking cameos.

She was a member and singer of the band Spunky Strider until it disbanded in 2014.
