User talk:Mjackson438
From Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia.
Account creation at the archives has been disabled for the time being due to a problem user. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I'd offer to upload them for you, but if you checked the archives' manual of style - well, actually, it's currently incomplete, but basically it's general Bulbapedia policy that other than stock artwork and sprites (which are undisputable canon material), user-created images are preferred from ones taken off of other websites, including for screenshots, scans and photos. And I don't see any photos from Serebii's page which absolutely need to be uploaded.
Yes, I know this policy unfortunately has been very lax so far - you're bound to find images "borrowed" from Serebii and other websites scattered all over the Bulbapedia. I wince every time I look at the manga sections for the gym leaders' articles. But we're trying to kick it into gear. I hope you understand, and thanks anyway. --Pie 20:37, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- 1. No, sorry. The best answer I can give is "when things cool off and the issue has blown over."
- 2. The problem user at first only refused to cooperate with other users and interferred with work by changing all images to the ugly, text-covered blatantly-ripped-from-TV-Tokyo preview images for new episodes. This was annoying, but usually a problem which works itself out pretty quickly. However, the problem user escalated his own problem by failing to listen or cooperate not only with other users but with the moderators, creating revert wars, dodging blockings by creating puppet accounts with proxies, and sending threatening e-mails to people involved in the conflict. All for episode images. Ridiculous, isn't it? The moral of this story is, "The internet is not serious business."
- 3. Technically, I believe his account is blocked indefinitely, as well as his IP address. The problem is, with proxies, there's very little we can do to stop his nonsense besides turn off account creation and force him to cool his jets - and, hopefully, either lose interest in the issue or realize what he's made of himself over this. --Pie 15:38, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, the problem user has actually identified himself as connected to Bobabobabo on Wikipedia. I'll inform Ryulong about the problem we've been experiencing. Anyway, the TV Tokyo preview images are the images used by the TV Tokyo website for new episodes of the anime. Generally, these are small, they have large white text on them, and they only give a vague idea of what the episode is about. The screenshots we want should be larger, clean, well-representative of the episode's plot and quality, and preferably not taken from other websites' screenshots taken from the brief episode preview. He didn't understand what we don't like about them, even when we explained it carefully, and probably did not try to listen and understand what we were saying. And thus he made a nuisance of himself. --Pie 22:01, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
I know you mean well, but please don't edit the content of Bulbapedia policy pages. You are free to raise and discuss proposed changes on the talk page, but we'd rather have the actual editing of policy in the hands of the moderators. --Pie 22:13, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes. Everyone is well aware of the situation. --Pie 23:01, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
Moves in other languages: Sure, go ahead and start it. There's several multilingual lists on the Bulbapedia, and there's no reason not to add more. Yes, Dogasu's Backpack is considered a reliable source on Bulbapedia. --Pie 22:35, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Assume administrators are unobservant at your own risk. We were willing to look the other way so long as you didn't restart that revert war. Goodbye. - 振霖T 07:27, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
