From Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia.
Okay, finally I'm getting around to it. The final member of the main cast, Misty, gets her Pokémon captures, evolutions, releases, and so on listed.
...oh god she's at the gym... THIS is why I was putting it off... she's got no static party of six. I'll just put them all... then...
Misty's fishing for Pokémon, but we don't see any of hers. Oh! A bite! A wild ASH appeared!
Ash is an idiot, only has Pikachu, and Misty needs to battle Team Rocket to save his ass. Nice, huh? She uses one Pokémon... she might've caught it the episode before, or even before that, but we have no freaking clue.
Four episodes later, and Misty reveals another Pokémon, showing that the group has, among them, at least eight Pokémon.
Strike that, nine. Misty battles Ash as the Gym Leader because her sisters are all lazy.
Finally Misty makes a capture of her own, after Ash has filled his party. Too bad it's SO. FREAKING. USELESS.
Okay, maybe Horsea's not all that useless compared to this thing... but at least Psyduck earns its place in her team for all of the original series for being funny.
Happy 50th weekiversary special! In this, the fiftieth episode... what happens?
Well, Ash's egg hatches! And Misty steals it right as it happens. A leech is born.
Misty goes back to Cerulean with Ash and Brock and her sisters DEMAND Starmie. She leaves her lamest capture ever with them, too, because it wasn't getting enough exercise.
No, sadly, it's not that damned Togepi.
And that's how it stays until... the end of Kanto.
Misty and Ash are aboard a blimp. Team Rocket screws up, leaving the two adrift until they crash into an island...
Misty decides to battle someone who claims to like Water-types as much as she. Battle someone. Jeez, about TIME. Then Ash dumps her bag, which has all her Poké Balls, in the water. And out of the water comes... A Golduck!? Psyduck EVOLVED?
Ash and Tracey are paralyzed because they messed with a Vileplume. Back off, dudes, I'm a badass gigantic flower. Misty has to find something to cure them, and a Poliwag helps her...
And that's the end of the Orange Islands. Now we'll get somewhere!
Misty's rejoined by Ash and Brock for another journey, woo. She helps Elm get a Totodile back so that someone can have the enjoyment of Water-types like she does.
Now this is a significant number for the series... 151... What could happen? Well, Ash and Misty both throw their Lure Balls at a Totodile. Did Misty catch it? Did Ash? They battle for the prize... Ash wins and keeps Totodile, but Misty doesn't actually lose... Poliwag evolves!
But still, despite being the Johto series, Misty only owns that
piece of crap Togepi. So, hey, why not catch another Johto Pokémon?
In fact, why not demonstrate cross-generational evolutions?
And that's how she stays until the end of Johto. Then she gets her bike back, all fixed, and the three friends part ways. Misty returns to Cerulean... where she will stay.
At least until mid-AG.
Back in Kanto
Oh cwap, PIA's coming, better make sure the Gym's in order. Well, it is, save for the rampaging Gyarados. Misty overcomes her fears and gets character development Ash could never have allowed for. Just look at what's happened to Brock over the past ten years.
Sidetrip to Hoenn
Misty joins Ash in Hoenn for a visit. Isn't that nice of her? She brings along her new, powerful friend, and likely her other powerful Pokémon.
AND THAT STUPID LEECH.
But hey, at least there's a point to bringing the damned leech. It finally DOES SOMETHING and EVOLVES.
And then she releases it. Yeah, that's right. The same schpiel Ash gave to his Pidgeot. "Protect them protect them from the nutjob who wants revenge".
Oh wait. Why be mad about that? PARTY TIME! THE LEECH IS GONE!
NO MORE TOGEPI!
NO MORE TOGEPI!
NO MORE TOGEPI!
And back to Kanto again
Misty returns to Kanto, but Namba hires Cassidy and Biff to rid the world of love by stealing Misty's new Luvdisc.
Dumb plan, but hey, at least she got a Gen III Pokémon.
No, Tracey... no... why why why did you let your Marill get so close to Corsola? Agh, and then you went and gave Misty the egg? Or maybe, hmm... did she STEAL IT like last time?!
Ash returns to Kanto only to find Misty hanging out in his house. Oh god. What's that with her.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! NOT ANOTHER ONE!
...well... at least until we get a new girl in Gen V!
