The year 1938 isn't something you can copyright.

Palafin evolving from Finizen at level 38 may be a reference to 1938, the year Superman debuted.

This bit keeps being removed even after i've re-added it. To put it simply: the year 1938 isn't copyrightable. Neither Bulbapedia nor Game Freak nor TPC will get in trouble for referencing a year. Plus, the mention of Superman in that sentence is incidental; it doesn't directly state that Palafin references Superman, it states that Palafin evolving may be a reference to a year in which one of the most famous superhero characters debuted.

I do think this level trivia is notable, hence why i really want to keep it on the page. I understand the BP policy but i think this is a rare edge case that shouldn't count (for reasons i mentioned above). I've talked about this on the Discord and was basically given the go by one of the mods to reinstate it, but it keeps being removed for some reason. I'll just throw in my own two cents: I don't think noting this trivia bit is a threat to DC's copyright in any significant way. I mean heck, Looker's page mentions how he could be referencing a character in Lupin the Third. If that's allowed, I think this can slide. Welkamo (talk)

Sure they can’t copyright a year, but they can copyright a character such as Superman, since the trivia specifies the significance of 1938 is Superman’s debut. Crummymummy (talk) 16:38, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
