Notes

  • Mallow and Hau would play a gender reversal in Ash's typical traveling companion setup - Hau is the inexperienced trainer who is pursuing his dream, while Mallow is the knowledgeable exposition-bot.
    • Depending on whether or not gyms are still a thing, Hau's dream may be to defeat all of the Trials of Alola. Otherwise, Ash will go through this as normal, and Hau will do either the alternative to battling featured in the games, or something made up like Showcases.
  • Hau's Pichu would be hatched out of an egg. A cute side story would be Pikachu serving as a big brother to Pichu even as she evolves into Pikachu. She would evolve into Raichu towards the end of the series and only be seen once or twice after that.
  • I'm not sure what would happen to Jessie's Gourgeist, but I don't think she'll stick around for the whole series. It's also possible that they'll get rid of both Inkay and Gourgeist like they did post-Unova, but if not, then I think Gourgeist will be traded away or released or sent to train or something. James's Sandygast would be received after this as a replacement ghost-type, and Jessie's Stufful would be received after this (or possibly in the trade) as Jessie's new third Pokémon.
  • James's Sandygast/Palossand would bring back the running gag of James's Pokémon being overly affectionate, but in a style more like Ash's Muk - tackling and burying him whenever they get happy.
  • This is all speculation, and mostly baseless speculation at that. I doubt this will be what happens in the actual anime, but I think it would be cool.
