:Highly unlikely. It doesn't scream "chupacabra" when most people look at it. Most people think of a hedgehog or echidna, and it doesn't even look the slightest bit like descriptions. They're said to look almost {{tt|lizard-like|unless, of course, it's the Scooby-Doo version which resembles Bigfoot more than anything}}, so Crocanaw would be a better fit than Sandslash because of that. Personally, I would never have even thought of a chupacabra when looking at Sandslash. To me sandslash kind of resembles a enchidna? -- GoldHusky2009 11:55, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

El Chupacabras

Sandshrew may be inspired in part by El Chupacabras. For one thing, the both have spikes going down their backs, the both stand on two legs, Chupacabra is 3-4 feet and Sandslash is 3'03, and they're both usually found in hot, sometimes sandy, areas. Pawsrent 23:53, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Highly unlikely. It doesn't scream "chupacabra" when most people look at it. Most people think of a hedgehog or echidna, and it doesn't even look the slightest bit like descriptions. They're said to look almost lizard-like, so Crocanaw would be a better fit than Sandslash because of that. Personally, I would never have even thought of a chupacabra when looking at Sandslash. R.A. Should this and other Alola forme Pokémon be locked?

Since these are relatively new, should we lock these? - unsigned comment from OdieboyDuck (talkcontribs)

As you've probably seen, the staff were already in the process of doing so when you posted this message. They generally tend to be well on top of locking pages to avoid prerelease speculation, so maybe wait next time to make sure they're not already doing it?
