Question:

Are you sure that "One Island" is equivalent to "Knot Island"? For instance, when I think of "One Island", I think of the town that's in the Knot Island system; that's the name of the town only, because when you enter the town it says "One Island", when you select it for Flying it says "One Island", etc. But when I think of "Knot Island", I think of collectively not just One Island, but the "routes" that are "attached" to it: Treasure Beach, Kindle Road, Mt. Ember, and perhaps Ember Spa.

So, should the standard be that "One Island" be equivalent to "Knot Island", "Two Island" be equivalent to "Boon Island", and so on? It's definite that One Island, Two Island, etc. are meant to be the names of the towns, not the islands. So should Knot Island, etc. represent the towns also, or also the routes that are attached to it?

Answer: I was pretty sure that the town and the island were considered one and the same. That is that the town was named after the island and that each island had two names - a regular name and a number to denote which order the islands are in.

The towns aren't exactly gigantic places in the first place. They're typically a Pokemon Center and one or two houses of little interest.

I mean, Pokemon has already established this in the past. You don't have Cinnabar Island and Cinnabar Town. You just have . . . Cinnabar Island. Which denotes both the settlement on the island and the island itself.

There's never been any other reason for me to believe it wasn't so with the Sevii Islands as well.

Talk about coming in late to a discussion... =) Zeta, I agree with you on some points you made but not all of them. To my vantage point, the town is "One Island" and the island is "Knot Island". My rationale: for one, you are correct in that there is not a "Cinnabar Town" and a "Cinnabar Island", just Cinnabar Island. But for every Sevii Island except Four/Floe Island, this argument is invalid because the island in every case but island 4 is composed of more than just the town, where Cinnabar is just a town, like island 4. So, in my opinion, there should be a separate article for the town (One Island (town)), the island (Knot Island), and a disambiguation page distinguishing between the two (One Island) for every island except island four, since some would type in One Island expecting to go to an article about the town, while others would expect to be taken to one on the island. --TMF T - C 02:24, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

It scares me. Is there a way to do something with it? --Maxim 16:43, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Move discussion

See Talk:Sevii Islands#Names: Knot Island/etc vs One Island (town)/etc. I kind of hedged my bets there when I wrote that, but after thinking about it more, I strongly believe that this and the other (generic, as opposed to town) island pages need to be moved.
