:Yeah, from the way it appears, the server's been having issues here, but at least it's back up now. For Sevii, we could probably do those in two or three maps (either 1-3 and 4-7 or by how the game does it, 1-3, 4-5 and 6-7). The regional map design as you had it above looks great. For the fade-in, I agree the animated fade-in glow would look excellent, but I'm not sure what Bulbapedia's policies are regarding animated images. If in the event we can't use animated GIFs, the red box design used in your example will work fine. --<font color="#CC0018">T</font><font color="#0000C0">M</font>F T - C 02:07, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Revision as of 06:08, 22 August 2006

TwinsMetsFan is taking a "Bulbabreak" for a week or so. During this time, responses by this user will be noticably delayed.

Due to (attempted) abuse by vandals in the past, we never enabled user custom JS. Since vandalism is not quite as uncontrollable as before, I think I will allow user JS... if you want it. - 振霖T 23:17, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Project templates

For your information, project data templates, such as Template:Project Routes, go on the Article page only, not on the talk page. User142 (Talk) 09:02, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Link templates

In Bulbapedia, we have several link templates to make it easier to link to Pokemon, items etc. If you want to link to an item, such as the Item Finder, the way to do it is: Item Finder. User142 (Talk) 06:13, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Talk page responses

In Bulbapedia, and probably every other wiki, it's proper to respond to a talk page message at the same place where the original message was. User142 (Talk) 06:26, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

At Wikipedia, like most other users over there, I respond to any messages left on my talk page on the talk page of the user who left the message unless otherwise directed. --TwinsMetsFan 06:28, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome.

I just hope we can get more people on the route project. It sucks being the only ones cataloging it because then... it takes forever...

Ah well. Think we'll be able to finish before the American release of D/P? Tom Temprotran 02:26, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

It was even worse when I was the only one on the Routes project. It took me well over a month to complete all of Kanto routes. Hopefully, now that only Johto and Hoenn routes remain (two regions that have been in only one Generation each), the process will be much faster and I think that we will be able to finish well before Diamond and Pearl make it to the U.S. --TwinsMetsFan 04:38, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes. That and Johto's got the least amount of routes in ANY region, besides the Sevii Islands. But Hoenn's got the most... so far. Eh, I could take Johto and Sevii together, and then, you can take whatever parts of Hoenn. And speaking about how many routes there are... I wonder how many routes are further beyond 219 in Shinou... And if we should make anything about it yet. I dunno. What do you think about making Route 219? Should we or should we wait until the other routes come out? Tom Temprotran 04:49, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
If you could take Johto and the Sevii Islands, that'd be great. For now, I'll work on the Hoenn routes east of the river near Fortree City (I can't remember the exact route number off the top of my head; I think it's Route 119), so basically 118 to 132.
As for the Generation IV routes, if there's enough information already available about the route to make an article for it, then I'd say go ahead. If there isn't, we should probably wait until all of the routes are known. --TMF T - C 20:18, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
All right, sure thing. And yeah, that's Route 119, don't forget to mention Feebas in that article, he's probably the most important thing you'll find there, aside from the Weather Institute. And then, I'll finish up West Hoenn along with the rest of Johto and Sevii. Might have to pull out Crystal, I've not been back in so long. And Gold had to go and corrupt its save file on me last week... stupid... thing. I had all of my shinies and my Typhlosion there...
So I guess it's a wait on Route 219. I mean... really, all we know are that it has a surfable section and that it's short before that. Nothing like... location. Heck, 219 could be on the island to the northeast of the rest of Shinou.
Speaking of location, what about this idea? Somehow we indicate on a regional map where the routes and cities fall in their articles. We'd be able to make it look up-to-date and colorful, maybe, if we were doing Johto's; I'd imagine somehow we would be able to pull together a Johto map using Generation III sprites. After all, somewhere I saw part of Route 30 redesigned with GBA sprites. Wouldn't be too difficult to do it with the map if we wanted consistency.
And don't forget Route 133, that still needs doing. If you work on them pretty much in order, though, I might finish Johto and Sevii up before you get that far.Tom Temprotran 01:59, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
The regional map idea sounds great. If we could put something like that together, I'd modify the infobox to include a spot for the overview map. Also, yeah, I'll do Route 133 as well. I just finished Route 118, so that leaves Routes 119-133 for East Hoenn for me. --TMF T - C 03:27, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
All right. I'll see if I can find some sort of a map making setup, they have to have them somewhere. Then I'll just modify Johto's map to the GBA-size screen, like RBY's map became FRLG's. And we can use the Sevii, Kanto, and Hoenn advance maps, and Shin'ō DS map for it. Then all we have to do is find some way to highlight which route it is, as well.
And even if we can't find a map tool to make a Johto Advance map immediately, we can still start by testing it out on the Kanto routes. I'd reccomend the Regional map go underneath what template there is so far, too. Maybe move the text that says which region it's in appears to underneath that regional map?
And then I have to get to 31-35, 37, and 40-46, as well as the Islands 1-6 routes. Then those few Western Hoenn routes... Shouldn't take too long, I'll be able to finish the Islands within a week or less, if I keep working how I have been. Heh, just like the games. Tom Temprotran 04:20, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Sounds good. I'll make a spot for the map and I'll move the region location as well (as I believe that this is the best method as well). --TMF T - C 04:55, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Okay. I have a tutorial/map blank thing for use, so I'll be working on that ASAP. But should I keep all small red towns for Johto, like Advance Kanto has, or do the Town = Blue, City = Red, Big City = Double Red? I mean... Goldenrod's long enough to... Tom Temprotran 05:50, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
I'd go the Hoenn route and use the blue/red/double red shading, personally. I think it'll look better in the long run. --TMF T - C 13:20, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
All right. Won't take long to change from what I have. I also edited the Kanto Advance map to a GSC Kanto Advance map, with Viridian closer to Pewter, no Viridan Forest, Indigo Plateau and Victory Road as the landmark dots, and Routes 26, 27, and 28 included. And then I cut a small bit off of the west end of it, and used that as the basis of the Johto map. That way, distances are approximately the same.
Anyway, here's the image I have: [1], and the Kanto half, for Routes 26-28: [2]. Now, as for how we indicate it, maybe the Advance Generation brackets around it? Or something, since there's long routes involved... Tom Temprotran 01:29, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

(shift back left) Excellent job with the maps. One comment though; based on their size, I would make either Celadon and/or Saffron a "double red". For the indicator, I would use either the Ad. Gen. brackets or a red box to outline the route. Also, when the maps are done for each route, here's an idea for a naming convention: "(Region) Route (#) map.png" or even "Route (#) map.png". That would make the infobox coding for the map extremely simple. --TMF T - C 02:09, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. And I was wondering if I should do that, being that the Kanto map I showed you would be just for the GSC-only routes. But it's easy to pull off, even if all I have is Paint.
And that sounds good to me... The red box looks better than the map cursor, so far as I see. Check it out yourself: [3] And without the region stated, it'd revert to being the map of the layout in-game of the route itself. So go with (Region) Route (#) map.png. Unless we're going with Sevii, then it'd have to be, maybe, (Region) (Route Name) map.png. I dunno, it'd work for either, if we were to make it so (Route Name) for the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Shin'ō would fall into the template as Route (#).
Oh, and by the way, have you seen this site? They have maps of every area in RS, they'll be quite useful in finishing Hoenn's route articles. I can't find if they have Kanto Advance, Sevii, or Johto ones, though. Ah well, I'll find some eventually. Tom Temprotran 03:55, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey, is it just me, or has the server gone down here every two or three days for the past week? And how about the whole-region maps for the Sevii Islands? What can we do about them, should I put them all into one map, or split it off? And how'd you like my regional map design? Maybe instead have the route designation be a GIF that acts like the RSE Pokémon location map in the Pokédex, with the fade-in glow? Tom Temprotran 19:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, from the way it appears, the server's been having issues here, but at least it's back up now. --TMF T - C 02:07, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
Okay. Three maps it is, since then they'd be the same size as Kanto's. As for the animation, maybe we could ask? But who would be the people we DO ask?
