== The real Big Blade ==
If you look at Kingambit from the side, you can see that its ''entire body'' is one giant sword. The blade itself is the one coming out of its head, and its hair is the hilt if you were to hold its body to wield the sword. Its two side blades could be a crossguard. I'm not sure where to put this information on the main page, though. Can it count as inspiration to go in the Origin section, or should it be mentioned in its Biology? :I mean, i can kinda see it (like vaguely, if i squint), but i'm not sure. For example, a sword's hand guard generally goes in front of the blade, not behind it (like if you assume Kingambit's hair represents a sword's hand guard). Also no cross guards are shaped that curvy and weird. Interesting observation, though. [[User:Anzasquiddles|Anzasquiddles]] ([[User talk:Anzasquiddles|talk]]) 00:34, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Kingambit's evolution

This discovery was made by A Dusky Forest and JP on the Bulbagarden Discord: Bisharp to Kingambit evo requires your Bisharp to defeat three Bisharp that are holding a Leader's Crest. It is not "defeat Bisharp while your Bisharp holds a Leader's Crest" (it has to be the enemy Bisharp holding it), nor is it "defeat Bisharp leading a pack of Pawniard", although those usually spawn holding a Leader's Crest, so i can see where the confusion came from.

The following are copied from A Dusky Forest's Discord posts:

  1. Thief-stolen items from wild Pokémon go directly into the bag after battle? How long has this been a thing?
  2. Stealing a wild Bisharp's Leader's Crest using Thief before defeating it makes it ineligible to count toward my Bisharp's evolution requirement.
  3. Capturing a Leader's Crest Bisharp does not count toward the requirement either.
  4. Leveling up from the same fight where I defeat the third Crest-holding Bisharp will immediately trigger the evolution.
  5. Using Switcheroo to give the Crest to a wild Bisharp that didn't generate with one, and then defeating it, counts toward the requirement.
  6. The KO only counts if your Bisharp deals the finishing blow.

JP confirmed point #5 (i copied their Discord post too):

And yeah I found 3 Bisharp that spawned alone without a pack, gave them all Leader's Crest through switcheroo and then defeated them with my Bisharp
After defeating them I levelled up the Bisharp and it evolved

I took the liberty of reposting these Discord posts here for archival purposes; and so other editors may integrate these info onto the relevant pages. Also note that these are tests done on wild Bisharp. I've asked if NPC-owned Bisharp given the Crest counts, i'll update this post when new info is available. (Player-owned Bisharp don't seem to count because Link Battles always reset everything afterward.)

Kingambit's 'throne'

So in the origin section it talks about Kingambit looking like it is sitting on a throne, but rather than a throne isn't supposed to be in reference to the folding stools that Daimyo and the like are often depicted sitting on in war camps. I don't know if they have a specific name, but they seem to be common in Sengoku era historical series. Given the look of Kingambit's armour and pose, this seems a lot more likely than a throne. E.g https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/251568329166299396/ https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/416090453081986076/ - unsigned comment from MonarchOfRed (talkcontribs)

Seems possible, but idk if it has like, a name? Or at least a name that doesn't just literally translate to "regular folding stool". FWIW i still think a throne works given it also sort of acts like an emperor (plus, not that English names of Pokémon inform their designs, but i mean, Kingambit?). I think the King in its names is just to keep in the chess theme of Pawniard and Bisharp, which looking at their Japanese names doesn't seem to be a thing at all for Bisharp and Kingambit, only Pawniard has a reference to Shogi. MonarchOfRed (talk) 16:55, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
