Cobra Kai reference?

In a scene from Cobra Kai, Daniel Larusso's fans ask him to do the "crane pose", the boys from today's episode have Ash doing this scene here.https://postimg.cc/qh0z9vnN Is it a reference to the Karate Kid and Cobra Kai?

I mean, it wouldn't be the first anime to make a direct reference to it, Great Pretender also has a reference to Cobra Kai. Can we believe it's the same case here?
