Welcome to Bulbapedia, Nikuriku!

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Page button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Also, if you want to edit multiple sections of the page, make sure that you click "edit this page" at the top of the page rather than editing it by section. Thanks! --Tiddlywinks (talk) 10:53, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Cheers! Appreciate the advice! The only reason I edited a page several times rather than all in one shot was that I feared that I wouldn't be able to revert the page in case I accidentally broke a part of it since I'm not too used to the editing features of Bulbapedia. But all in all, thanks for the advice on how to improve editing!Nikuriku (talk) 11:22, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
Again, please make use of the preview button. If you do, there's no need to save a page multiple times just to "test" something out first, and you should also be able to avoid simple mistakes like with Sawsbuck here.
As for being worried about breaking something and somehow not being ablel to revert it, if you're using preview, then you should be noticing when something is broken and not saving that, so that shouldn't really be a worry. This is exactly what previewing is for.
If you learn to use the preview button well, you shouldn't need to save nearly half as much. (Just in case, remember that this also includes being able to edit the whole page instead of only individual sections.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:48, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
Oh about the saving, sorry about the constant but minor editting of the page.
Out of curiosity does doing multiple minor edits have the potential of damaging the server or anything in some way?
Also I know this is not a good excuse but the reasoning behind these edits are that I'm not too used to the coding of these articles so many times I save the way I do in a combination of the fear of accidentally messing something up large as well as being a bit overwhelmed by the large wall of text. Also, I sometimes tend to remember other miscellaneous facts so I tend to come back to the page after the page is editted and saved.
I'll keep that in mind next time regarding the preview and saving of the pages. Also does SpriteIts underlevelled Pokemon page have the potential to become it's own article?
Fear of messing something up isn't helped by saving; again, if you break anything, you'll notice in the preview, that's exactly what it's for. Nor is saving in any way going to alleviate a wall of text. (And even in a worst case scenario, reverting is still very easy.)
If you can do a single thing properly in a single edit, isn't that best? Think of it as making you a better editor. From a practical standpoint, as the initial message said, many incremental edits can also clog up the Recent Changes log with edits that could have been done more compactly. If we're talking about mainspace pages in particular, fragmented, partial edits to "test" something out or something are also less than ideal. Tiddlywinks (talk) 13:05, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
Yeah you're right about doing the edits in one fell swoop rather than multiple tiny edits. Didn't know that the Recent Changes log would get congested from doing multiple edits. I see what you're saying and in future edits I promise I won't do tiny multiple edits like this ever again.
Also is there a way to revert a page back to the state it was in before it had become editted?
But overall thanks for the help and advice in terms of becoming better at editting for Bulbapedia. I'll keep that in mind about the preview button next time I edit. Nikuriku (talk) 14:25, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
Every page has a history tab/link at the top. It's always easy to undo the latest edit from there. There's also a couple simple enough ways to undo everything up to a certain point if you need to. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:39, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

User pages

If you weren't aware, a userpage is a page you create "under" your base userpage (User:Nikuriku). That is, if you want to try to make a page about Foos, you'd create it at User:Nikuriku/Foos. Don't just put it in the "mainspace" (which is where everything is that doesn't have "User:" or anything else at the beginning).

Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:43, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Oh, right. Sorry about that. Is there a way I can turn the page from a mainspace page into a user page?
Please understand that this was a complete accident and apologies for any problems this has caused.Nikuriku (talk) 14:47, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
I forgot to mention it, but I already moved the page to User:Nikuriku/Underleveled Pokemon. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:55, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Ah I see! Well thanks!Nikuriku (talk) 14:57, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Another thing I would like to ask about my page is that for the underleveled trainer Pokemon section, would it be a bad idea to put two of the same Pokemon down if their trainers are really notable? E.g. Iris and Ghetsis Hydreigon be split due to the amount of space taken up by Ghetsis' Hydreigon's info and the possible overlapping in levels as well as general cluttering. However for generic NPC trainers, the Pokemon will most likely kept in the same boxes.Nikuriku (talk) 14:59, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
I don't know, I guess it sounds alright. Tiddlywinks (talk) 15:26, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Hey, do you know how to create a page as well as making it within the userspace? Because I'm planning to make an article on a voice actor and I'm unsure on how to make my own page.Nikuriku (talk) 01:25, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
You created the other page, it's not altogether different except in the page title you use, like I explained initially above. You can just go to your base user page and add "/something" to the end of the URL (and go there), and then you'll be able to create whatever user page. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:34, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
The way I created the previous page had been really dodgy however. I just typed "Underleveled Pokemon" and from the search results I clicked the link on "Create the page Underlevled on this wiki" which is why I'm asking as when i searched the VA name, it automatically redirected to the list of VA page. But overall thanks for the advice.Nikuriku (talk) 02:24, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

Signing

Please remember to always sign your comments. You can sign your comments with 4 tildes (~) or clicking the signature stamp (Signature button.png) on the top of the edit box. It should also be noted that once your comment has been marked as unsigned, you cannot replace it with your signature as it will give off the wrong time stamp. Thank you for taking your time to read this message, have a good day. --ForceFire 04:07, 14 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice.
Another question I was meaning to ask you was about the trivia section of SM012, it states that "This marks the first time since the original series that Team Rocket fairly defeats Ash's whole current Pokémon party in a battle.".
I'm not sure if in the original series that Team Rocket defeats Ash in a full battle fairly. If so would you happen to know the episode to which they do defeat Ash in a full battle fairly?Nikuriku (talk) 04:16, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
Reminding you to sign again. However, I can't just add the {{unsigned}} template there because FF's talk page is now protected. --C.Ezra.M (T/C) 20:19, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
Sorry about that. Still trying to adjust after a period of inactivity. I'll keep that in mind. Nikuriku (talk) 10:32, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

When

I see you're going through various pages and removing then, good job as I do feel that then is used excessively on Bulbapedia.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 11:41, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
