Mystery Dungeon

Might there be some mention of the various weather effects in the Mystery Dungeon games? --DarkfireTaimatsu 18:33, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

It's a good idea, but it seems that people are too lazy to work on it... --ht14 10:32, 22 April 2008 (GMT)

Where are the pictures of the desert and fog weather conditions from? I've never seen them and I think it would be better if they were from locations we can actually visit Shiny Lanturn 13:14, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

The desert was just a quick map I made because I didn't want to have to run across all of Hoenn to get a screenshot. The fog's at Sendoff Spring. TTEchidna 02:27, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Weather Ball against Rayquaza

PBR Weather Ball Test

Team 1: Giratina and Castform
Team 2: Rayquaza and Darkrai
Turn 1: Use Hail: Started hailing in the colleseum. Castform did not change form. No one toook damage.
Turn 2: Use Weather Ball on Darkrai as test. Appears icy.
Turn 3: Use Weather Ball on Rayquaza. Appears icy, super effective. Rayquaza dies. Castform transformed to ice form. Darkrai and Giratina took damage.

Weather Conditions page.

However, it should be noted that when fighting against Rayquaza, Psyduck, and Golduck, due to their ability to negate all weather effects, Castform is incapable of changing forms and incapable of having a different typed Weather Ball.

Reworking the Weather Conditions page

I was just wondering if I could rework the Weather Conditions page into something more readable by introducing bullets into the page. This would make it far more readable than the current one. Graupel 16:22, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I think that the page would benefit from it. --SnorlaxMonster 01:36, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
I would also like to rename the page into Conditions. Weather Conditions leaves out the arena conditions.Graupel 01:46, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
No. This page is specifically about the weather ones. What do you mean by arena conditions; do you mean moves like Gravity and Trick Room? --SnorlaxMonster 02:00, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that is exactly what I mean. Weather conditions leave out Gravity, Trick Room, etc.Graupel 05:19, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

This page is specifically for the weather ones. I guess you could start "area conditions" in your userspace. --SnorlaxMonster 05:30, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Rain

It says that in rain, Thunder and Hurricane bypass accuracy check, and Blizzard does so in hail. While in Blizzard's article it say that it will never miss in hail, it is not the case for the other two, in their articles it says only that rain raises accuracy to 100%, while 100% ≠ —%. Which one is right? Marked +-+-+ 17:54, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

I tested this in Gen IV, and I'm pretty sure they never miss. I lowered my Pokémon's accuracy to -6, then had it use Blizzard while in hail, and it hit both opponents. I then tried with Thunder, lowering its accuracy to -6 again, and used it in the rain, and I managed to land 6 consequetive hits, with no misses at all. Either I am extremely lucky, or weather makes these moves never miss. --SnorlaxMonster 12:23, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

A two things

1. I was under the impression that Fire Blast + Sunny Day recived the same beinfets as Thunder + Rain.
2. Are these effects really only found in DP? Truthseeker4449 15:45, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Fact Check!

It says in the trivia section that all weather changing abilities were introduced in Gen IV. WHAT! I believe someone forgot two version mascots (with the abilities Drought and Drizzle) that are native to Hoenn. Snow Warning and Sand Stream were introduced in Generation IV. Therefore, I am editing the trivia section. Dudey997 05:17, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

It says they were introduced one generation after the weather they caused. Sunny Day/Sunny weather, Rain Dance/Rainy weather and Sandstorm were introduced in Generation II. Drought (Groudon), Drizzle (Kyogre) and Sand Stream (Tyrannitar) were introduced in Generation III. Hail was introduced in Generation III, and Snow Warning was introduced in Generation IV. Thus the trivium was accurate. Werdnae (talk) 06:10, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

And I thought I had something... Dudey997 05:56, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Singular

Shouldn't this page be non-pluralized as Weather condition or simply Weather? Also, I have a colorful template here that could be used for the page. --Abcboy (talk) 02:36, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

I agree; I think it should be singular. --SnorlaxMonster 01:51, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Diamond Dust II: Dust Harder

Why don't we have a Diamond Dust section anymore? As it was said above, a table of days on which it's available would be great. I've been looking for Diamond Dust on this 'pedia, and there's mentions of it here and there but only one page has dates (and those are for Diamond and Pearl) and they mention it existing in GenV but it's never said where or when (unless it says when on that location's page, which is absolutely useless unless you already know it appears at that location). A simple table on this page is all it takes. Pretty sure there used to be one. Me, Hurray! (talk) 01:05, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

I believe the Easter Egg page lists the times Diamond Dust appears, I believe it was removed off this page as Diamond Dust didn't introduce any special weather effects or alter any battle mechanics. --Spriteit (talk) 01:43, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Move to "Field conditions"?

Should this page be moved to Field conditions and cover the effects of Electric Terrain, Grassy Terrain, and Misty Terrain? - Chosen of Mana 20:35, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Those "terrain" moves don't look special enough to me to form a good and logical group that's only them plus weather conditions. They seem to me more of a kind with other moves that affect the whole "field" of battle, like Trick Room, Gravity, and Water Sport, than they seem similar to only weather. Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:19, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
Terrain moves are separate from weather. You can have both weather and a field active, and Abilities like Cloud Nine specify "weather". --SnorlaxMonster 03:51, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Fog?

I was thinking about how fog might be expanded. Does anyone have the locations it is found on? This is what I got so far:

Can we split weather conditions and shadowy aura, so if we do, we can create a new page about shadowy aura. Cinday123 (Talk) 22:56, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

It won't be much of a page, but I'm probably going to do just that when I've got a revamp for this page worked out, something so it's not just repeating the individual articles and actually works as a decent overview. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:42, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Problem with the category

Overworld/anomalous weather triggers in Gen VII

I'm trying to get a Castform at 10%...What triggers, for example, Rain or Hail in Haina Desert, or Hail and/or a Sandstorm on Exeggutor island? Or what triggers random weather in the overworld in general? Like, when will it hail on Mt. Lanalika or rain in the Lush Jungle? This requires an extensive level of spading, as well as other generations' equivalent weather phenomena triggers..anyone up for it?--BlisseyandtheAquaJets (talk) 23:19, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

The "trigger" either is time, or it is you. For SOS Battles, in-battle weather is relevant, so having Drizzle or the like will do the job. Or else, you could wait for natural weather to occur in the overworld, which will of course carry over to battles (see the location pages for when there's what weather, or our weather pages, for example Sandstorm (weather condition)#On the field). (I think there's some research left for exact times in some locations, but if you want hail in Haina Desert, I guess you'll have to take care for it yourself.) New Info from Gen VII - We have work to do!

As you may know, Sun and Moon's battle menu features an extensive amount of information on the status of the battle, including health, stat modifications, and other ongoing effects, including—you guessed it—weather conditions. The thing is, these games give us official names and descriptions for every weather condition that is featured in them, and some of the names are quite different from the names we've been using. Here they are:

What Bulbapedia calls "Harsh sunlight", Sun and Moon call "Sunny":

Sunny
The sunny weather condition.
It boosts the power of Fire-type moves and
lowers the power of Water-type moves.

What Bulbapedia calls "Extremely harsh sunlight", Sun and Moon call "Harsh Sunlight":

Harsh Sunlight
The extremely harsh sunlight weather condition.
It boosts the power of Fire-type moves and
protects Pokémon from Water-type moves.

What Bulbapedia calls "Rain", Sun and Moon call "Rain":

Rain
The rain weather condition.
It boosts the power of Water-type moves and
lowers the power of Fire-type moves.

What Bulbapedia calls "Heavy rain", Sun and Moon call "Heavy Rain":

Heavy Rain
The heavy rain weather condition.
It boosts the power of Water-type moves and
protects Pokémon from Fire-type moves.

What Bulbapedia calls "Sandstorm", Sun and Moon call "Sandstorm":

Sandstorm
The sandstorm weather condition.
It damages all Pokémon that are not Rock,
Ground, or Steel type every turn.
It boosts the Sp. Def of Rock-type
Pokémon.

What Bulbapedia calls "Hail", Sun and Moon call "Hail":

Hail
The hail weather condition.
It damages all Pokémon that are not Ice type
every turn.

What Bulbapedia calls "Mysterious air current", Sun and Moon call "Strong Winds":

Strong Winds
The strong winds condition.
The power of supereffective moves against
Flying-type Pokémon will be weakened.

I believe the current names we have for these conditions have stemmed from how they are described in battle text, rather than official designation. Either way, since these are from the most recent core series games, I'd say it's high time to work on implementing this new information on Bulbapedia. This would include moving and rewriting articles, and possibly editing templates. I wrote this entry not only to dump the info for easier reference, but also to run it past you guys and raise awareness about the necessity of this implementation. Does this work for everyone?

Haddady ~Straight Outta the Bag~ 03:50, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Strong winds has already been proposed for a move.
That "harsh sunlight" (like from Desolate Land) is a bit interesting since the description says "The extremely harsh sunlight condition". Also interestingly, it seems that when "sunny" activates it still says the sunlight turned "harsh"; and when "harsh sunlight" activates, it still says the sunlight turns extremely harsh.
Perhaps ultimately there may not be any reason to ignore the explicit condition names SM has given us, but these things are at least food for thought. Tiddlywinks (talk) 07:10, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Prerequisites in generation VIII

I'm not sure of the best way to do this, but I think it's important that we discuss the prerequisites for certain weather conditions to occur in the wild area and on the Isle of Armor.

For example, we already know that fog will only appear after the player becomes Champion. After some testing, it seems that thunderstorms only appear on the Isle of Armor after completing its storyline. There may be others I'm forgetting.

How should we go about it? It would be a little bit of information overload if we just added a big paragraph below the weather table. 0x424d (talk) 01:05, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

Overworld weather in BDSP

The page currently says:

When there is weather in the overworld, that weather will appear in every battle and last until it is replaced by another weather

In BDSP at least, this doesn't seem to be quite how it works - when the replacing weather wears off, the overworld weather comes back. Has this always been the case? If not, when did it change? --Flicky1991 10:26, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Volcanic Ash

I feel like volcanic ash (route 113 in RSE and ORAS) should be included as an overworld weather effect (since diamond dust is also included on this page) Hypershock (talk) 13:50, 8 September 2024 (UTC)
