Talk:List of Pokémon by Sinnoh Pokédex number

From Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia.
Jump to navigationJump to search

Japanese Pokemon Wiki has a Shin'ō numbers of many "unnumbered" Pokémon. But I can't find any official proof of these numbers. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Maxim (talkcontribs).

Well, which are they? Are they those that Serebii's shown revealed today, that are on the list? Or are they others? Tom Temprotran 03:08, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

The data from the games is now available. - 振霖T 16:13, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

There actually are Pokemon after 151. 3 Unknown Pokemon: The Fire/Steel Type The Normal Type The Ghost/Dragon Type And the Mysterious Milotic-like Psychic Type named Creseria. - Maxim

Yes, but the game only registers them in the NationalDex, not the Shin'o Dex. --Zeta 19:25, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Just like how Deoxys can be caught in FireRed, but he's not actually put in the KantoDex, only the NationalDex. Understand? --Zeta 19:26, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Something's not right about the Murkrow evo's name. It's listed as if it was a 6-character name, which is impossible. Obviously there's a typo in there, though I have no idea where. --ANinyMouse 21:55, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

I've also found another problem. There appears to be a discrepency over what Pokemon occupy #122-123. Here, it's listed as Remoraid & Octillery, but Serebii also lists those numbers belonging to Hipopotasu & his evolution. What's going on here, eh? --ANinyMouse 22:29, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

I dunno. I didn't put Remoraid and Octillery in. I just signed in because I wanted to ask where Hipopatasu went. Who put in the octopus? Does Serebii have a screenshot of Hipopotasu in the Pokedex? --Zeta 23:21, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
The data states that S#122 and S#123 are #449 and #450 respectively, i.e. new Pokémon. Remoraid & Octillery are S#132 and S#133. - 振霖T 06:59, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

So if we don't have a full-out Shin'o dex, should we wait to transfer the info over to the National? Or should I do so now? Tom Temprotran 23:35, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

We should wait, seeing as how the upgrades to the first three Gen Pokemon aren't in the Shinoudex . . . and the index numbers are bound to be out of order, at least slightly. --Zeta 23:53, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Gotcha. Then we'll leave it to 450, where it is now, so we don't have to go back and edit too much if we must. Tom Temprotran 02:05, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

So what two are we missing? --Zeta 07:33, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Whoever's Shin'ō 134 and 135. Any new two-stagers we don't have listed? Zhen Lin has them in this page as N#456 and N#457... but who are they? Tom Temprotran 19:02, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Holy... what have you guys done? Things are all shifted around. I think we ought to protect this page until the numbers are sorted out. Someone's got two Pokemon in between Scorpi and Dorapion. I'll make some changes, otherwise; try to get this ironed out. --ANinyMouse 21:35, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Fixed problem. My only question is... Where's the Electric/Ghost type? Is it related to any old Pokemon? --ANinyMouse 21:53, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

The next person to change Manaphy to something more than 151, or otherwise make the list end at a number other than 151, without conclusive evidence to prove it, will be banned for adding false information. The rest of the legendaries are National Dex only! - 振霖T 22:26, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Any chance of someone adding Template:Pokelist to this thing instead of the multiple links at the bottom? I made it so that each time there's a new way Pokémon are organized (whether it's a new Pokédex, or by some other attribute, or whatever) we don't have to go in and edit every single page. And since the page is locked to editing until probably sometime in January, I can't pop it in there myself.

I bet that people'll continue trying to add numbers beyond 151 even five months after DP come out. Tom Temprotran 13:07, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Since the page is protected...

Can someone please change this...:

# English name Japanese name Type
046 ??? Minomadam BugIC RSE.png GrassIC RSE.png

...to this:

# English name Japanese name Type

Thank you. MK 05:10, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Done and done. Tom Temprotran 22:31, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Sortable PokeDex list

Is anyone interested in having this list sortable? I've just recently discovered the coding for it, and I'm working on a copy of this list on my userpage, in sortable format. Once I get the little details all figured, it won't take me long to build a full dex on my page. Drop by and see it please, leave feedback on my talk (or here)... as long as nobody else has any problems, maybe I can start work on making our current dex lists sortable. (makes it nice and easy to find Pokemon of a particular type, especially.) -- Jioruji Derako.> 01:43, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

It shouldn't be very hard. The main thing though would be that the images have to be changed back to text links (the way I would like them). - 振霖T 06:47, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Hmm, which images are you talking about? The Type icons, you mean? As far as sorting, I've figured out a way to hide text with the images so the sorting still works, so keeping Type images is quite easy. I've got about 80+ added to the sortable list on my page so far (takes a bit of time, as I need to copy-paste and manually change as I go). Hang on, let me post a little section here as an example:
Dex# Name Type
001 Turtwig gaGrassIC RSE.png
002 Grotle gaGrassIC RSE.png
003 Torterra gagoGrassIC RSE.pngGroundIC RSE.png
004 Chimchar frFireIC RSE.png
005 Monferno frfgFireIC RSE.pngFightingIC RSE.png
006 Infernape frfgFireIC RSE.pngFightingIC RSE.png
007 Piplup wWaterIC RSE.png
008 Prinplup wWaterIC RSE.png
009 Empoleon wstWaterIC RSE.pngSteelIC RSE.png
...That's simply the starter Pokémon, in a sortable system. You can click the small icon at the top of each column to sort ascending or descending. Nothing overly-fancy, but especially useful for me when I need to skim through all the Dark-type Pokémon, or something of the sort. Anyway, any suggestions before I go overboard with this? I can add more columns with more data and sorting criteria, if you think of anything. -- Jioruji Derako.> 12:01, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
P.S.: All finished. Just give me the okay and I can copy-paste the whole dex list onto the page... I can change the colors to match the original list if needed, or keep it the way I've set it (mine's with a red header, in normal PokéDex fashion). Is the page still protected? I assume it is, so I'll make sure to mark off the sortable list so it's easy for someone else to copy+paste it. -- Jioruji Derako.> 13:52, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Are there really only 5 fire pokemon in the Sinnoh Dex? Or am I just imagining it?

You're not. There were only 5 Fire-types introduced in this generation: the starter family, Magmortar, and Heatran. --TTEchidna 04:21, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

no because there's also ponyta and Rapidash.UkiraGrace611 20:04, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Ponyta and Rapidash aren't from Gen.4, though. The original question was about Fire-types in the Sinnoh 'Dex, just the Gen.4 stuff. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 21:40, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Exactly. Heatran and Magmoartar aren't sdex Pokémon. So there's five in the Sinnoh Dex, and five introduced. Fire really got shafted in Sinnoh... Hope the next region's south of Hoenn. TTEchidna 23:37, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Mantyke

I found a problem on this page. It says that #140 Mantyke is only Water type. It is actually like this: Water/Flying

Expansion

No need to worry, I'm handling it. TTEchidna 22:53, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

209 ¿Manaphy?

In the expansion, Manaphy should be here. If the legendaries are ubicated in the last numbers, Manaphy should go after Frosslass, I guess... --Nick. 04:34, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Not unless we get proof of it. This might be different, where Manaphy keeps its DP Sinnoh Dex number. In fact, it'd make more sense for Manaphy to stay at 151. TTEchidna 04:43, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Platinum version

If only the 4 on this page are known, then where are the ones on the Pokémon's pages coming from? On my watchlist alone, Magmortar, Lickilicky, and Piloswine have all been given Sinnoh Dex numbers. Is User:Coffee just making them up? Flicky1991 20:07, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't realised they'd been announced. They're here: [1]
Can someone with access update it please? Flicky1991 21:11, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
It's been locked for a reason...people might edit/vandalize the page...I just told you so you have an idea... ht14 21:12, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Well the list is ready... just copy/paste in the article:

nice isn't it? hfc2X 22:05, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Good work. Next time, though, remember that the MS template takes a second parameter for Pokémon 401 and up. For example, for Pikachu it's {{MS|025}}, but for Pachirisu it's {{MS|417|png}}. If we get all of the MS's from 001-400 uploaded as pngs, though (rather than going for 401-493 and alt forms as gif), I can remove that bit of coding... which is found in other pages, too... Sprites

Why some sprites are altered? See Cranidos, Rampardos, Wormadam and more --CorsolaSplash 14:06, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Huh? They're the same. TTEchidna 17:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

ah ok, thanks --CorsolaSplash 18:10, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, Zhen and I have been working since yesterday to get the sprites uploaded properly. Noticed yet that the animated sprites are now png? TTEchidna 20:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Move

Shouldn't it be Pokédex?--KukiTalk 21:11, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

It looks like the template for Pokémon pages was changed to Pokédex, but the Sinnoh Dex page (this one) hasn't been moved yet unlike all the other regional Dexes. Can an admin move this page ASAP? ←{Berrymaster|Talk|Contrib}→ 22:38, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

TTE's latest edit

I'm posting here instead of just editing because I know TTE knows what he's doing, but I'm not sure I understand his edit, since the Kanto Dex has Dratini's evolution after legendaries. If the point was edited to say "legendaries and pseudo-legendaries", or something like that, would it be alright? Flicky1991 16:37, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Well, I meant the super-legendaries. To date the only dex that has super-legendaries and then regular Pokémon again is the National Dex. TTEchidna 18:19, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I see. I'll edit the article to avoid confusion. Flicky1991 18:35, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I've realised I can't. Can an admin do it? Flicky1991 18:36, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Protection

I'm 98% sure it's safe to unprotect this now. Gligar 18:50, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

On the same note though, we shouldn't need to update the list ever (unless the next game is somehow in Sinnoh as well). So there's not much reason for anyone to edit it as it is. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 23:12, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
That doesn't mean it should be permanently protected. What if there's simple spelling errors and the like? Gligar 14:53, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
There are plenty of admins who can fix such errors; there don't seem to be any currently, and I don't see how any could be added in while it's protected...
However, there doesn't seem to be any particular reason to keep it protected aside from as a preventive measure. I'll unprotect it for now and keep a watch on it. Probably nothing will happen, but if it starts getting vandalized repeatedly, I can just protect it again. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 02:41, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Template

Is it okay if I changed it like this:

# Icon Name Type
001 387 Turtwig Grass
002 388 Grotle Grass
003 389 Toreterra Grass Ground

And they rest will follow.--ForceFire 11:55, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Trivia

"With the Platinum expansion, the Sinnoh Pokédex was the first regional Pokédex to include common Pokémon after legendary Pokémon. " This is contrived, beginning from the first Kanto pokédex the dratini line is after Articuno, Zaptos and Moltres :/ Luord 17:31, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Dratini, Dragonair and Dragonite are Pseudo-legends, I wouldn't call them common.--Pokélova! 00:53, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Unown/Riolu Trivia

Pokemon Battrio extensions (not in Diamond, Pearl or Platinum)

Where do you list this??? In a separate page, maybe? I made an edit that was undone and I don't know what to do with it. Found on Wikipedia.

Pokemon Battrio Extensions: 211 Shroomish 212 Breloom 213 Slakoth 214 Vigoroth 215 Slaking 216 Kecleon 217 Zangoose 218 Ekans 219 Arbok 220 Poliwag 221 Poliwhirl 222 Poliwrath 223 Politoed 224 Qwilfish 225 Sableye 226 Voltorb 227 Electrode 228 Aron 229 Lairon 230 Aggron 231 Phanpy 232 Donphan 233 Igglybuff 234 Jigglypuff 235 Sableye 236 Horsea 237 Seadra 238 Kingdra 239 Smoochum 240 Jynx 241 Torkoal 242 Hoppip 243 Skiploom 244 Jumpluff 245 Heatran 246 Regigigas 247 Cresselia 248 Phione 249 Darkrai 250 Shaymin 251 Arceus - unsigned comment from Alexlatham96 (talkcontribs)

In my opinion, it would need to be on a separate page, something like List of Pokémon by Pokémon Battrio number or List of Pokémon by Sinnoh Pokédex number (Battrio), for instance. This page is for the core series, so information for other games would need to be on a separate article to avoid confusion. But before you do that, where are you getting this information? Wikipedia is not reliable, and I'm not seeing Pokédex numbers on the puck images on our Battrio puck pages. Plus, while trying to verify your alleged numbers, I can't even find any evidence that Shroomish ever appeared in Battrio at all. I think whatever source you're getting this from was just making things up. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 04:50, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

It's been removed. It is almost certainly not true! - unsigned comment from Alexlatham96 (talkcontribs)

Brillant Diamond and Shining Pearl addition

Since it looks like that only the original Sinnoh Dex listing is included for the Gen. VIII remakes I propose doing the same thing as the Kanto Pokemon when the Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee games came out and just update the page because unlike with Heart Gold/Soul Silver, Black 2/White 2, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, and Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon there is nothing too radically different that requires a separate page to be made as the Let's GO games and Fire Red/Leaf Green mainly stick to the original Pokédex listing of the original games. -Tyler53841 (talk) 21:05, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

I agree with user above. I've thought about it and realise creating a separate Dex Article for BDSP is more logical option than tinkering with Dex templates or filling a old article with new infos. --Modikisha (talk) 21:13, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

Sortable

On this page, the Pokémon are not sortable. Can we make the Pokémon sortable?

Perhaps something like this:

Sdex Ndex MS Pokémon Primary Type Secondary Type
#001 #387 Turtwig Turtwig Grass None
#002 #388 Grotle Grotle Grass None
#003 #389 Torterra Torterra Grass Ground
#004 #390 Chimchar Chimchar Fire None
#005 #391 Monferno Monferno Fire Fighting
#006 #392 Infernape Infernape Fire Fighting
#007 #393 Piplup Piplup Water None
#008 #394 Prinplup Prinplup Water None
#009 #395 Empoleon Empoleon Water Steel

Of course it would have all of the Pokémon in the Sinnoh regional Pokédex instead of just the Sinnoh starters, I'm just using the Sinnoh starters as an example of the table. If you want, I can put the rest of the Pokémon in the table and put it in the page. Mew07777 (talk) 22:53, 8 January 2022 (UTC)

Why should it? It should only list the Pokemon by the regional dex.--ForceFire 05:58, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
I meant it would have all of the Pokémon in the Sinnoh regional Pokédex. Mew07777 (talk) 20:29, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
I was saying why should it be sortable? It doesn't need to be sortable, and it shouldn't, as it should be listing them by regional dex not by type or name. We have other lists for those.--ForceFire 07:33, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
Sorry for the misunderstanding, I just thought it would be useful to have a sortable list exclusively comprised of Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex and completely forgot about the context of this article just being a list of Pokémon by Pokédex number. Mew07777 (talk) 04:48, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Maybe there should be an article just titled "Sinnoh Pokédex" that features all of the Pokémon that appear in the Sinnoh Pokedex sortable in anyway, that way there can be an article that features only Pokémon that appear in the Sinnoh Pokédex and the Pokémon aren't limited to only being sorted by Pokédex number. Mew07777 (talk) 17:32, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
No. There's no need for two articles that are basically the same thing.--ForceFire 05:27, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
