Evolve Eevee

In FR/LG, it mentions that you can get this by evolving an Eevee. Sun Shard? FR/LG? Harvestdancer 21:47, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

My recent comments on the Umbreon talk page should hold relevant to Espeon as well. --Shiningpikablu252 21:49, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Copyright Infringement

Has anyone seen this Yu-Gi-Oh card? Crystal Beast Ruby CarbunclePsychic Thunderboom 05:12, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes it is in the Trivia section. PS. sign with four ~~~~ Crystal Lucario 15:36, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

NO GAEMFREEKS IS RUNNING OUT OF IDEAZ THATS WAHT THEY STOLE FROM YU-GI-OH. (Now that THAT'S overwith, since I couldn't help but get that out of my system. I think it's much more of a coincidence more than copyright infringment, but..) Tina δ 16:40, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Uh, Tina, Espeon came first. Ruby Carbuncle is a relativelly new card. Psychic Thunderboom 05:12, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
I agree ,Espeon came years before Ruby Carbuncle did ,LOOK IT UP! User:Ultamatecharizard

Inclusion

I suggest adding Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2 to the Side Games section. I got Marine Resort up, and it's one of the places where Espeon can be found and recruited. BlueJirachi 15:44, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

What's to suggest? We do need the complete location data. The information is in some of the articles but hasn't reached Espeon yet. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 16:08, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
I found out where Espeon also may be in the games. It could also be found in Shimmer Hill and The Nighmare. BlueJirachi 16:14, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
You can't recruit it in The Nightmare, though. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 16:16, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Espionage?

This probably sounds really strange, but is it possible that Espeon's name may also come from the word espionage? Wouldn't Espeon be able to use their psychic abilities to steal information? Although that does go against the sun theme of Espeon... Meh, it's just an idea. *shrug* Ayla 17:10, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Thats a good idea but i think its ESP and the eon from all eeveelutions, great idea though :]--David Aipom (Talk to me) 17:23, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
No, I know it's from ESP. I meant that maybe the 'Esp' in Espeon had a double-meaning. Ayla 21:00, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
All Pokémon could be based on a variety of things. Same with the name. I say add it. TESHIGIGAS 21:03, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
An international terrorist who uses an Espeon. Could provide an interesting character idea. Maybe as the main villain of a seinen Pokémon manga, perhaps? --Shiningpikablu252 21:43, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, I'm not sure what seinan means, but that could be an interesting idea for a fanfiction. n_n Anyway, I guess I'll go with Tesh's suggestion and add it. Ayla 01:06, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Real Japanese Name Origin

I just found this information on a Japanese site today. The origin of Espeon's Japanese name エーフィ "eifi" is simply from エスパー (esupaa, or Esper) and フィール (fiiru, from the English "feel" because of how it can feel with its fur). Plutoplanetpower 05:02, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Eyes

I know this is super minor, but the description of Espeon's eyes says that they're pupil-less, white iris and purple sclera. Unless this is in fact cannon, and if Espeon is really based on a cat, you shouldn't see the sclera at all, and it would have white pupils and purple irises. This seems to coincide with the shines and shadows in the anime and sprites on the purple. The sclera wouldn't reflect so much light. As I said, this is super minor, but would anyone mind me changing it to white pupils, etc? (or at least tell me whether or not it's cannon?) Thanks! Jazzmoth 17:37, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Other generation learnsets

There are no other generation learnsets links however pages themselves exist: Espeon_(Pokémon)/Generation_II_learnset, Espeon_(Pokémon)/Generation_III_learnsetTenno Seremel 07:18, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Umm those links are just at the top of the infoboxes--D i o n 2 4 :D :D :D 07:25, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Err… I can't see any (-_-) That's what I'm seeing with Opera 9.63, with Iceweasel (Firefox) it's the same: [1]Tenno Seremel 07:34, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Its not at all the same as Firefox; Firefox gives rounded borders on those particular templates. It must be a browser problem because I am running real Firefox and it's fine; same in Internet Explorer. I looked through th revision histories of the page and the template, and there is nothing there at any time that would affect this, other than the server being a dick. Again. If it persists, get a better browser. — THE TROM — 07:49, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
I know about rounded corners. It's a non-issue since it's simply border-radius CSS property. However links are only links and nothing more. They should be visible. And I looked in Iceweasel that is the same as Firefox but with a different name... So how better it can get that Opera and Firefox? Weird... — Tenno Seremel 08:00, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
I got it. Code itself says 200px width for this block. And it's apparently too small for my font preferences. Maybe it should be specified in “ex” or made via table with left/right margins set to auto… — Tenno Seremel 16:06, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Blaze

Blaze the cat looks alot like a espeon. Should this be mentioned? Glitchedm1~♥ 15:47, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Well Blaze is a cat, and she's the same color, but aside from that, there's not much similarity. By that logic, we'd need to mention that every cat-shaped Pokémon looks a lot like other cat-based characters.
Now, if Blaze had two tails, plus the unique color, and/or similar eyes, then you've have something noteworthy. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 16:01, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I see what you mean. Althought they both have a red jem on there forehead and they are able to use psychic abilities. But at lease I didn't say anything about copyright Glitchym1~♥ 22:36, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Aren't Blaze's psychic abilities limited to pyrokinesis? It's a connection, yes, but I don't think it's quite big enough to mention. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 03:37, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Cry Glitch

In my second generation games, I found a glitch with Espeon's cry - if you set the Pokédex to alphabetical, then go to Entei's page, play its cry and click down while Entei's cry is still playing, Espeon's cry glitches. I've never heard this documented anywhere else, so could anyone check if it happens for them too and, if so, is it worth putting in the 'Trivia' section? Mattachu 23:03, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Sun Pokemon

Should it be noted in trivia that even though it is the Sun Pokemon, it can't learn Solarbeam? Sparky 12:24, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Sphynx cat comparison

In the origin, it is said that it might have been influenced by a sphynx cat because of the latter's pink skin, but not all sphynxes have pink skin - my own sphynx has grey skin, it can be white or even spotted. Not to mention Espeon has fur and it's purple rather than pink. So I'd say this is way too far-fetched. --Kiadony 11:25, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

"Inspiration of the pink-purple coloring of its fur can be drawn from sphynx cats as well." I believe the sphynx cat origin only refers to the coloring of the fur, and not the skin. Also the keyword was 'can be,' which is implying that some sphynx cats can look pink or purplish. --Pika Pika Pi~!! (talk) 23:55, 10 June 2018 (UTC)

Looking back on this, I realize that an animal's coloration can be a little too vague of an inspiration for a pokemon design, and that a sphynx cannot be a valid inspiration as you've said before, Espeon has been canonically stated to have fur (and you can see the fur texture on it's pokken model) and sunbathes which a sphynx cat cannot do, for it's skin is too sensitive against solar light/heat. --Pika Pika Pi~!! Do Trailers Count?

do trailers count as anime appearances? if so, espeon was in one of them for magnagate and the infinite labyrinth. - unsigned comment from Fudgedara (talkcontribs)

I'm not sure about everyone else, but in my opinion, no. Trailers shouldn't count.
Might as well count intros as well. TheBlazikenMaster (talk) 22:05, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
No. Trailers do not count. Like TheBlazikenMaster said, if it did count, we'd also have intro appearances.--ForceFire 03:42, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Zap Cannon

Should Espeon's capability of learning Zap Cannon in Gen 2 be listed in the moves section? - unsigned comment from Reshiespeon (talkcontribs)

It is listed; click on the "Other generations: II" link at the top of any of the learnset boxes. It's not mentioned on the main page because Pokémon from Generation II cannot be transferred forward, so it's impossible for an Espeon to have Zap Cannon in modern games. Beta Espeon...

So with the recent leak of the Gold Beta, a few pokemon we've come to know and love has made an appearance in the original beta version, but with some differences to their physical appearance. One of these being Espeon! Espeon's beta sprite is shown to have twin tails (confirming the bakeneko/nekomata origin), and more singular whiskers (though, this could be due to sprite limitation) almost similar to a lynx. My question is that, should the beta sprite be included in the trivia? tumblr_inline_pbat6f0agv1r9nvoy_540.png Pika Pika Pi~!! (talk) 16:16, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Evolve Eevee 2

Ok hold up, why were my edits reverted? I thought that if Eevee knows a Fairy type moves, it evolves into Sylveon. This is Espeon's page. Aykrivwassup (talk) 03:06, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

That is indeed the case and it's already stated:
It evolves from Eevee when leveled up with high friendship ... except ... knowing a Fairy-type move (and having at least two levels of affectionVI–VII).
--ForceFire 05:02, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
Ohhh okay, I misread that. Thanks, ForceFire! Aykrivwassup (talk) 16:00, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Tail design and dowsing

The forked tail might be a reference to a Dowsing rod. "Dowsing is a type of divination employed in attempts to locate ground water. (...) A Y-shaped twig or rod are sometimes used during dowsing." Dowsing (a form of rhabdomancy) is a pseudoscientific form of finding water, supposedly using extrasensory perception. This might be a good Trivia, or an addition to the Biology section.
